Considering JB4 with E85

Hey guys!

I'm getting bored with my current JB1 setup. I have a F30 328i and am looking to get a little bit more power out of it. I have read around and most of the treads about the JB4 are pretty old from when it first came out. What's the latest talk on drivability of the 328 N20 running 100% E85? I'm currently leasing the car and have about 14 months left on it. My main concerns are: Has anyone run into issues running full E85 on the N20? Can I just run the JB4 with no other modifications besides the tune and E85? Will the car suffer performance wise if say I take it into the shop, take off the JB4, and still have some E85 in the tank? Thanks so much for any advice or suggestions!

I recommend you do more research and reading about the subject
You cannot run 100% E85 on your N20 at the moment

JB4 E85 Use

If equipped with the FlexFuel add on connector E85 mixtures may be used with pneumatic wastegate x28i models and the x20i electronic wastegate models. E85 is NOT supported for the electronic wastegate x28i model. When using E85 a mixture of no more than 40% is suggested.

Okay perfect. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I was getting confused with the pneumatic and EWG options. I'm just going to ride my lease out with the Stage 1 at this point.

Didn't come direction and can't figure out how to install it, so I'm probably going to return it. What would you recommend for a Turner for the bmw 328i?

From most to least expensive:

Dinan - if you're concerned about warranty
Active 8
JB4
BMS stage 1

You can research each for their pros & cons.

If you're just looking for an easy HP and torque boost, the BMS Stage 1 is the simplest and cheapest way to go. I can't speak for the quality of any of the other tunes, but I've heard that some of the more expensive and complex ones are a bit smoother... I don't mind the occasional surge of boost when driving mine. Makes it feel all the more like a race car

If you are not planning on adding any other mods or using E85, get the BMS stage 1

If you plan on doing more than just a tune, get the JB4

I've been wondering the same. If I want to do basic mods (catback and intake) but nothing beyond that, will I be ok with the stage 1 or do I need the jb4?

Stage 1 is the way to go

I'd still recommend jb4. While absolute numbers may be similar, jb4 will be smoother and more versatile.
