What should I be taking daily

I already take a multivitamin (One-a-day) and fish oil pills. Should I be taking iron pills or anything else?

My diet is above average, but it's nothing exceptional. I don't eat unhealthy foods, but I don't go out of my way to form a completely all-round perfect list of meals everyday to make sure I'm getting everything I need. Just wondering if any of you take specific vitamins and/or supplements daily.

My daily pill popping routine:

-Life Force Multi Vitamin (no iron)
-Flaxseed Supplement
-Fish Oil Supplement
-Low Dose Aspirin

I've read where men shouldn't add iron thru supplements because we usually get enough thru our diet.

I also drink 4-5 cups of green tea a day.

-Animal Pak (simply the best multi on the market, hands down)
-Animal Omega (covers all omegas, not just omega 3 you get from fish oil)
-Animal PM (I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed and not groggy, even with around 4 hours of sleep on occasion)
-LOTS of green tea
-even more water

Yeah I'm a Universal Nutrition whore but only because their shit actually works as advertised. I take other stuff for the gym with some being from other companies but these are my staple supps. No complaints with any of them.

Fish Oil - Costco's Kirkland is great value - 684mg of EPA/DHA per softgel (that's what really matters, not how much mg they advertise on the front).

Take 3-5 a day.

Just be warned, there's a lot of pills/capsules - a lot. Some people love it for it's convenience (like me) while others simply can't do it. And about fish oil tabs, you really do get what you pay for. Google "fish oil supplements mercury" and you'll see plenty of articles about it.

I'll take your word on their effectiveness. I'll invest in some as soon as my current multivitamin runs out.

Animal Pak looks great but it's so bloody expensive. How can you guys afford it? Are you supposed to take 1 pak daily and 2 paks during heavy training?

Places like GNC will rape you when it comes to Universal Nutrition products. Case in point:

GNC = $46.99
http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2134187

DPS Nutrition = $22.85 (I get all of my stuff from here)
http://www.dpsnutrition.net/get_item_uv001.htm

Same for Animal Pump (what I take pre-workout. It's amazing and has your complete daily supply of creatine)

GNC = $59.99
DPS Nutrition = $27.99

As far as dosage goes, 1 pack is more than enough. You take 2 only if you plan on being in the gym for 4+ hours or something like that and you're going hard on everything with almost no rest between sets/different exercises. And if you do, make sure your first pack is taken at least a few hours before your second one - both with food, preferably taken with grape juice (I forget why).

If your diet is well rounded you do not.

Fish oil omega 3 has been shown to decrase cardiovascular risk over the long term, and it also acts as an anti-oxidant, so could have some beneficial effects that way. You need to take about 1000 mg/day for it to be effective and you need to take it forever, because its effects are gradual.

Iron overload isn't recommend, can lead to end organ damage secondary to reactive oxygen radical production. You probably get enough iron, esp if you eat meat.

Don't need to bulk up on vitamins unnecessarily you're probably fine

Most people have NO idea what 'eating right' or having a good diet is, and the OP didn't ask anything about it.

As for your question I take a vitamin, flax and fish oil, and a Glutamine chew. I've found that to be plenty for me, and I usually am popping glutamine all day.

I've found lot's of products to be pretty worthless as far as creatine, NO, and other 'hyped' up products go. Creatine is useful as it basically allows your muscles to release a little more energy allowing you to lift a little more weight. It doesn't aid in muscle growth itself, but rather allows you to train your body at a higher weight and tear down muscle faster.

I've used Animal Pak in the past and love it, I just get burnt out really quick with all those damn pills.

I do the vegetarian thing though and get most of my nutrition from my diet.

Women should take iron, as a male you likely do not need it.

Green tea is also fantastic as an anti-oxidant, as well as black tea and yerba mate.

If you want to tear apart your muscles and your ladies at night, as well, you have to boost your testosterone levels. You can do it using natural supplements only.
Follow my nutrition plan:
Tribulus - 1 gr. 3 times a day
DHEA - 100gr. daily
ZMA - one serving a day

You will turn into a gym pro and sex machine.
