Question Where do you get your fitness supplements from?

So, there are many ways to get the supplements you need:
-internet sites
-gym shop
-supplements store like GNC
-your friend who happens to be the local supplier (typically for underground products)
Where do you get your supplements and what discounts can you offer? I mean natural and legal substances only, please keep your friend suppliers for yourself.

Peronally, I used to buy everything from the local GNC store, but few months ago I started ordering from www.iherb.com. My gym trainer told me about it, gave me his discount code ROV747. Prices are good, shipping is fast, but I guess there is always something better.

Other than that, never order from A-1. I have had terrible experiences.

I used to take a couple different things and then I stopped altogether last year after my protein mix was recalled due to rat infestation at the factory/rat feces in some of the mixes. (Can't even remember the name now, American something, was supposed to be good stuff) Honestly, I think a lot of supplements are grossly overrated. Being largely unregulated, they can put crap ingredients in stuff and charge people whatever they want. I stick with some chocolate milk after workouts and just eating a lot and sleeping as much as possible(always hard)

bodybuilding.com. Use to shop around, but I just get protein, usually 5lbs of optimum and the prices are all about the same.

Fitrx.com is a great site to order from. Especially if you are ordering a lot. They always have good deals going on and shippping is $6.95 on orders less than $200. Free if over $200

Do you really NEED supplements? I do crossfit and couldn't be happier with the results. I eat clean paleo and do a big chicken breast& sweet potato after every workout plus lots of clean eating. Put on plenty of muscle (north of 15lbs now) and feel way better than when I did the whole "supplement" thing.

Just an idea for the future - supplements are overpriced anyway! lol

Oh and I'd order from my local nutrishop or other discount shop, but they always try to sell you these other brands. And they never post prices on their products so you're forced to ask how much things cost.

I see what you are saying but if you really want to build lean muscle mass, it is hard to get that amount of protein in food. Unless you want to consume 4-6 chicken breast everyday. People think supplements are a waste of money but if you truely want to build a solid foundation, they are necessary. I don't advise people to only use them but they do provide an easy way to throw down 30g of protein and essential aminos

I hear you there- I wouldn't say that they're necessary for building a solid foundation however they do help you if you a) aren't as solid/knowledgable in building your food intake correctly and b) need additional protein. Personally I prefer (by a longshot) eating 4-6 chicken breasts, lean beef, etc a day rather than a watery powdery protein shake. Tastes better and feels better to me - that's just me though.

On a separate note, go for 1-1.5g protein for every lb of lean body mass you have for a good ability to gain muscle in FAST. I'm up 15lbs lean muscle in the last 6 months with no supplements. I also have a friend who in a period of 4 weeks put on 8.7lbs of lean body mass by eating 400+g of protein every day for the entire time. Clean eating+volume and strong programming in your workouts WILL PAY OFF! (but eating 400g of protein a day even with protein shakes is hard as balls to do.... that's the real work).

If any of you are looking purely for strength and not athleticism (Crossfit is more about creating elite fitness) I would look into a google search on "GOMAD" (Gallon Of Milk A Day) and "Starting Strength" with paleo diet modified slightly. You'll see amazing gains in lifts (OLY lifts included which are arguably the most important).

Supplements are not necessary, but they can't hurt. Something like protein powder I don't even think of it as a supplement anymore (only take it after I workout).

Oh and not sure of "gomad" is literally a gallon a day, but I assure you, if I drank a gallon of milk a day, I'd be losing weight.....

I use to be super strict with my diet, but counting calories and grams of protein is a pain. Just try eat clean and healthy, along with moderation and that should go a long way.

The online store that's apart of our fitness clubs. Get anywhere from 20-40% off from things like vitamins, protein supplements, and pre-workout supplements.
I paid like $35 for a tub of Superpump from there (don't use that shit anymore though). Free shipping too.

I agree. I say they are necessary due to the fact that most people will not take the time to cook that much chicken or fish. The protein powders do give you different types of aminos as well. I don't know any bodybuilders that do not use them, pretty much impossible if you are shooting for 1-2g per pound. Convinence is key

Congrats on your accomplishment, keep up the good work! It is takes time and dedication for that for sure
