Just revealed 2014 Lexus IS F-Sport Compared to BMW F30 3 Series M Sport

COMMENTS

The first photos of the 2014 Lexus IS production model have just been revealed. In F-Sport guise, the IS is a direct competitor to the F30 3 Series M Sport.

Much like the BMW F30's M Sport package, the IS F Sport package includes items such as an aerodynamic kit, larger wheels, lower suspension and sportier interior trim, with no changes to the powerplant.

The new 2014 IS has been built on a longer wheelbase and will offer more interior space than the predecessor. It will launch with a choice of two V6 engines - a 2.5L and 3.5L, with a four-cylinder hybrid powerplant to come later. Specs and comparisons to the F30 will be forthcoming, but for now, let's see how the IS F Sport compares to the F30 M Sport. There is expected to be an IS-F model to once again take on BMW's upcoming F80 M3 / F82 M4.

I see they're taking cues from Acura and Infiniti, on a path to make their cars as ugly as they can... Kind of looks like an Acura from the rear 3/4 too

These are *photos* and not a terrible render? Wow, the proportions on the front end, in particular, are just SO bad. I was prepared to say "there's no way they'll release a car with those awkwardly tiny headlights" .. but... wow.

Well, if Lexus (Toyota) set out to achieve a new standard for hideous design, they have succeeded beyond their dreams !!!

Another winner from the company that currently holds the trophy for the most recalled marque on the planet ! Well done Toyota !!!

It actually looks like the clay model melted and they were like "I'm not starting over..."

wait, old IS was actually a nice-looking car. is this a concept or a production-render? it just looks really odd with the lines and the grill - there's no way they would produce that... right?

That Lexus front-end reminds me of the "Predator" in the movie series...and all that open area in the front CAN'T be good for aerodynamics.

+1 Acura really went ugly with their line over the past few years. But this new Lexus is right up there in unattractiveness.

Really interesting approach to this. Looks like a dramatic change yet the engine will be the same. Got to love the cluster though following up on the LF-A's cluster. Exterior I'm still on the fence.
