8 weeks out of warranty and that low mileage I would be talking to the dealer about some BMW good will mate. Worth a punt - they can only say no.

I've had this warning twice on my 335d. The first time it was the air filter (fairly blocked up) and the second it was a cracked pipe in the exhaust. Both were within warranty for me.
The problem with this warning light is the myriad amount of things it can relate to, until plugged into diagnostics there is no real way of knowing what caused it.
Incidentally the light will self clear if the fault self corrects - in the case of the air filter it was intermittent for about 3 weeks.

It can be a manor of things but related to the DDE and engine management that is turbo, engine, dpf and related items not actually to do with the gearbox/propshaft etc.

A read with ista will tell you exactly what's wrong with it.

Where are you located?
