Headlight Assistance
Read the manual but can't seem to get this to work? However only tried switching on around town where there's lots of lights, street signs etc. Does it only come on when lights are on and the road ahead is pitch black? I press the button on steering wheel stalk but get no symbol come up in the cluster either?

You need light switch (rotary) set to auto (to the left)
The ambient light needs to be sufficiently poor / dark ( or wipers on normal). Your green side lights icon should now illuminate. Press the button on stalk and a green A should illuminate on dash. Driving around a street lit town or city you won't notice much. So pick a decent dark road or motorway and roads and just drive about. |

oh I see, mines are always on auto, if they are on you get a little green symbol on the speedo cluster so you know they are working

I'd try and take it out on some unlit roads , the system won't work where there's a lot of street lighting. |

If the OP has adaptive lights. The dipped bean level is higher when the headlight switch is set to "auto" then when in "manual"

Cool pleased that works.
I do wish that BMW still provided an instruction manual for their cars. You would even think in this day and age it could be electronic, they could even (going out on a limb here) have it available vie the Idrive and that nice screen. I know it's just an idea and I can't see BMW doing something like that... |

You also need to be traveling above a certain speed, circa 40mph to get the High Beam to activate.
Incidentally, it can be coded to work on normal headlight setting, not just Automatic. |
