Socket for torque wrench
Hi,
Today I've ordered a torque wrench (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290847424907) that will help me apply the proper pressure when removing/putting back my car's wheels. Any ideas what kind of socket I need for that particular torque wrench (drive: 1/2")? Any ebay links would be much appreciated. Thank you! |

I use an impact wrench to remove my wheel bolts, since most of the shops I go to, especially BMW dealers, like to torque the hell out of my wheel bolts with an impact wrench. Last time i got my car back from the dealer my bolts were torqued to 700+ ftlbs, spec is 103 ft lbs. I use my air tools to remove and start to install bolts, but tighten them down entirely to 103 ftlbs with my 1/2" torque wrench. I keep my 1/2" torque wrench with one BMS wheel saver in my trunk just in case, and have another BMS wheel saver I use with my air tools.

700+ ftlbs that's crazy. I'd never let them do that, would prefer to do it myself. I've just ordered something similar to the BMS wheel saver http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381488416467 Dispatch is cheaper. Hopefully the quality is similar. Thanks |

By the way, would something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2-Drive-...MAAOSwll1WxBNW be a good option for bolt removal using the saver socket?

You'd struggle with that tool to break bolts tightened by power tools which basically all shops do.
