Notes on a 2015 335i Enhanced Bluetooth and USB (6NS) OEM retrofit
My sister did not get the $500 Enhanced Bluetooth and USB option in her 2015 335i just because I told her this was an easy retrofit for less than a $100.
It was exactly $93.31 plus tax. Steps in order: 1. Coding - Replace 6NH with 6NS in your VO and VO code NBT Nav. That will enable 6NS straight. BMW Office will show up in your Nav, 2 USB (console and baseplate) icons will show up in the display under Multimedia. Full Bluetooth connection for 2 phones and text/email displays will be enabled. 2. As no baseplate is available if you do not pay for the 6NS option then the alternative is to add an USB port in the still existing bracket (old CIC Nav HDD port) in the glovebox. That will be the baseplate USB. 3. Get two OEM parts from your local dealer: 4. The USB1 cable is actually the cable that goes to the center console USB and not to the glovebox. The USB2 cable that goes to the glovebox is twice as expensive -don't ask me why, no idea. What this means is that the USB1 cable cannot be plugged into the NBT USB2 LVDS socket because the connector guides are different. No problem... just shave the guides and it will work for half the price: 5. Then USB port and cable install can proceed: 6. Testing of functionality and charging: If you want to get really fancy then you can also order the storage net for the glovebox to store your device and thus clear your glovebox for real junk: 7. Testing of 2 USB devices connected at the same time: Notes: A) This is exactly the same functionality of the $500 6NS option in my 320i, except no baseplate/snap in. B) If you have a MY2014 F30 with Nav then 6NS is included with Nav but that baseplate USB requires the snap in to be utilized. This retrofit will work as well for MY2014 without the need of snap ins. The second USB port will be available for your second device at the glovebox. Last edited by Technic; 03-30-2015 at 08:14 AM.. |

Technic , looking to do the same thing. Although, I have the combox in the trunk. Could you kindly let me know if the unused plugin would be the USB2 port? If so, I was unable to locate Part Number for cable via Realoem.com...could you kindly guide me in the right direction?

Blue HSD port is the baseplate USB.
If your idea is to run a HSD USB cable to the glovebox location then there is no HSD cable long enough to reach there from the trunk. The maximum length HSD OEM cable that you would find is about 11' long. You would need at least 13' of HSD USB cable. Quote:
