320i quick review

I just dropped off my M4 for service and they set me up with a 320i. It is extremely underpowered. For future potential buyers please don't get this car it is such a letdown from the sound to the performance. I have also driven the f30 328 and currently own a f30 335i, if you ask me you should definitely get at least the 328.

For the price of the 320i I would much rather get a genesis or something like that.

Most people who look at and buy/lease a 320i do not care. See, it's a matter of preference and opinion when you say under powered. Under powered compared to what a M4, a 335i, a Camry/Accord... Not to insult you, you would recommend a Hyundai over a BMW, cmon man.

Can you tell me what else I can lease that is $269 per month with tax and just drive off fees that equals the performance driving pleasure of a BMW and comes with full maintenance?? Pretty much nothing.

Not many people consider the 320i "driving pleasure" it's considered a loaner and a basic outcast from BMW (no offense guys, just a messenger)

TBH even a honda civic SI is as fast/comfortable as the 320i at a fraction of the price.

We pay about 50k+taxes for a loaded 320i here in Canada, and we don't get full maintenance, just the basic. brakes+consumables is at your own price.

320 I is not 50K plus tax in Canada, don't know where you get your information from. And as far as comparing it to a Civic, it has more horse power and torque than a civic and looks much nicer inside. It's not always about horse power as is about quality of what you drive...

We really shouldn't judge tbh. Someone else could say that if you are worried about speed than buying a 70k Bmw is likely not your best option either. Lots of cheaper cars that are quicker.

It's not that bad. You guys are exaggerating, it seems. However that's your privilege. I disagree.

It's something I would get as my beater bimmer, if anything, but it's not as if it's crummy enough to compare to your Hyundai's and Civics.

My 320i xDrive was a great starter BMW (except for the brakes, ekk) and it only cost $34k. However, I did just order a 228i xDrive with over $15,000 in options so that may indicate how I felt after driving a base/bare bones 320i over the course of a three year lease, lol. There is no handling comparison to the E90 though, so if you're buying a lightly optioned F30 thinking it's still the sport sedan benchmark for performance, you may be mistaken...

This is off BMW Toronto.

Cheapest they have.

I don't know about you, but I would not pay that much for a 320i.

Yes, but how much is a loaded Honda Accord or Toyota Camry in Canada? The trade off for the performance edge and name was no options (except heated front seats and a moonroof, lol) since I was 24 at the time and just out of graduate school. While there has been much more std. equipment (i.e. Sport Line trim) added for the US market to the 328i since then, the same has not been the case for the 320i...

Its just for the BMW badge. Know somebody who owns a 320i xDrive and thinks he is the shit.

I leased mine because the 3 series had become the sport sedan benchmark culminating with the E90 and terminating with the intro. of the F30. Yes, I read reviews of the F30 loosing it's edge but I didn't wholly believe them, especially given the road test numbers they were pulling with the F30 models they were testing. Also, I couldn't test drive the model I did with the sales lady in the passenger seat the way I really intended to drive the vehicle, especially since it only had 8 miles on the odometer. Nevertheless, I don't believe I made a poor choice. If I had, I wouldn't have ordered a 2 series, nor another BMW for that matter.

People driving a vehicle for the name is no different than someone insisting on a 6 or 8 cylinder motor in 2016 either for the sound or the often false performance advantage they insist they need, but never actually use. I'm not against either, and I'm usually very outspoken.

I had a 228i xDrive loaner when my 335i was in servicing, and it's actually pretty quick, remember it's not a 20i

....And That's what you think, you'd be surprised on how many people actually use the full power on the roads

Not here in the US. Most still act like they're driving a 1970 Caprice.

So they're about the same price... Top of the line Accord and base 320i, correct? That is the case here in the US also.

How in the world did BMW ever sell a single E46 325i (one of the 3ers most responsible for their success today) in north America?!?! Oh the humanity!!

My God these are the MOST WORTHLESS threads!!!!!!!!

Exactly.

I've driven a base model 320i (cheapest on that list) and good god, I thought I was driving another car as it was missing a ton of options.

But yes, to agreed, most people who buy 320i (not all) do it for the badge.

The issue is that the 328 came first, and the 320 is the same motor with detuned programming and a FEW different pieces of hardware. There isn't $5-6 thousands of dollars worth of differences between these motors yet that is what BMW is charging for a 328... Yes, the 328i does come with more standard features, but not that much. I also don't think the 320i will ever be one of the BMW's most successful models, lol. Customers had a hard enough time accepting the goodness of the N20 motor because it only had 4 cylinders initially, there not going to go even lower on the totem pole and purchase basically the same motor that's needlessly robbed of an additional 60hp.

I'm not dissing the 320i, well I am, but I can because I have one.
