2012/13 Sat Nav problems

OK covered 600+ miles now in the 330D MS, mixed runs have given 43/45/46 MPG that includes london driving and mostly heavy rain driving and 75/80MPH went ever possible.
However one problem.........Pro Nav it sends me on longer routes than necessary to reach destinations : examples ASDA Layton, it sent me 5 miles up the A12 instead of diving off at the roundabout to Layton which was 400 yards from ASDA
2/ Example : Westfields Stratford, was NOT on SAT-Nav map !!!, directed me up a dead end street the wrong side of a railway.
3/ Bow roundabout on the A12, I needed to go Left, sat nav said take third exit and showed it in the HUD which ment going back the way I came!!!!!.
I could go on but BMW UK said my car was the first they have heard of this problem, I told them the loaner did Exactly the same sending me up exit ramps and back on the carriageways.
So now the car has to go back to BMW listers on Wednesday for some software check!!!!!.
I do not trust this Nav system any more and after paying £2K for it well pissed off.
PS) this is a problem in ALL modes, that are possible to try.
Been on to BMW UK, they are looking onto it at the Technical Department.

Hmmm not good

So far for me, mine is working routes out the same as my E90.

You haven't got Eco pro routes enabled have you? That could be trying to save you fuel by routing longer, less busy etc routes?

I've had this on occasion, one example was taking a familiar route where I'd turn left and the destination is 200yds away but the pro nav wanted me to go round the block a total of about 800yds. Other times it's taken me down a 10mph farm track for 2-3 miles instead of 60mph main road for 5-6 miles. I just put it down to crappy map data.

Have you tried another sat nav on the same route? Do other sat navs calculate the route correctly or is the problem with just the new F30 nav?

PS , you not having a good week chum.

This has not happened on other Nav's. Yep my week as been "pure Sh*t".
Not much else can go wrong
Got nicked (maybe) scratched my glasses, sent on around the world trips, and it Pi**ed down from the start of going to pick up my daughter for graduation right through to dropping her back home.
Things may improve next week we hope.

Yep, was too lazy to go out to the car and try it Was curious to see what Google made of it though in the app. Have done this before with places the satnav doesn't 'know' about.

Every time I get a new car, which is every 2-3 years, I have aN awful 2-3 weeks afterwards.

It goes like this:

(1) I get a raging cold which ends up as a chest infection. I tried different times of the year for delivery, but the illness never fails to embrace me!
(2) I get a couple of parking tickets ...... it's amazing how they target a new car.
(3) I always have to park under a tree and get peppered with birdy pooh pooh.
(4) I dent the car and have to call the Dentman (Martin Leach: he's amazing) to massage away the dents.

Always these 4 things,

SO,

This time I'll garage the BMW for the first 3 weeks and keep driving the GTI.
It is for this reason I did not sell the GTI before I got the BMW.

Having the same issues with my Nav, I've also checked the settings. It seems to always miss out the shortcuts that I've become familiar with. TOMTOM all is forgiven, I want you back. On a seperate and more minor note, I my ambient light doesnt seem to change colour when asked and there are no lights on my B pillar like others have shown??

However, when you are entering post codes, are you putting the "space" in ie.
E20<SPACE>1EJ?

I used to put postcodes in like E201EJ (because my old TOMTOM could always work this out fine) but the BMW nav would just say there was no such postcode.

Tried it with space, and hey-presto!

Regarding your other troubles, I can't say I've noticed the sat nav on mine do anything too crazy apart from take me up a service road in a retail park instead of the main road.

These 330D engines work a lot less, at 80MPH mines doing 1800 RPM.

I do put in the spaces, this car is weird the HUD and Voice show one thing and display another, this needs sorting.

So BMW Navigation systems use Navteq right ? Navteq have an facility to report updates.

Suggest everyone with problems report them direct to the people who are going to be responsible for the updates to the maps. Whether this gets into a release of the maps your BMW has in another matter.

On a plus my Nav managed to get me to Hyde Park from St Neots in just over an hour yesterday morning using the RTTI setting. It updated three times due to traffic and we sailed straight in. Very impressive. On another not so good journey it sent me right into town (huntingdon) at rush hour when I normally bypass and the journey took an extra 20mins. I thought it may know something that I didn't, how wrong I was.

Last night on my way along the M27 the nav showed sections of the motorway in red and announced it was diverting me (took me round the outskirts of Portsmouth). No idea if it was right, but when I saw various emergency vehicles heading in the direction of the M27, I had to assume it knew something.
