JB Performance Tuners

Does anybody have the N20 stage 1 tune by Buger Motorsports? If so, how was installation, how is it, does it decrease gas mileage, did you have it dyno tested, stats, etc. Do you guys reccomend this tune? Why or why not? On their website it claims 45 hp 65 torque boost and 0-60 times of 4.9

Check the n20 section, all your questions can be answered by reading up over there.

I find that all tuning devices decrease mileage at lest at first because of the way people drive their cars after getting them. It's human nature: step on it and feel the torque.

Gas mileage will technically be better because you're not running as PIG rich as the stock tune. Most tuners will lean out the AF's....

Absolutely 100% recommend getting the JB Stage 1 for the N20. Its cheap. Install is so easy, a caveman can do it. No reliability or drivability changes from stock. Oh, and the performance difference is substantial... Get one.

I have had no detonation issues with this tune. I'm thinking our ECU adjusts AFR's to prevent things from running too lean (or rich). This would also explain why higher octane fuel causes an instant increase in HP without requiring and change to the tune.

I'm no expert though, just my $.02

I haven't heard any symptoms thus far, though the only method of monitoring is listening for audible symptoms

Based on BMW's history, I'm really not concerned bumping up the boost by 3psi using 91/93. I'm fairly certain our ECU has a fail-safe in place when it comes to knock/det/pinging independent of allowable max boost.

If you are like me and expect substantial results due to good reviews....don't get it! Im a family man with 3 kids, so mod funds don't come as fast as I like them to. 379 is definitely not cheap, especially if you can barely feel difference. I have a 2013 328xi with a k&n filter and there was not too much a difference. There is still a lot of noticeable turbo lag, and it doesn't feel as responsive or zippy as described by other members. Install is very easy though. Just my two cents

Lots of customers running these now with no issues and a lot of happy users These also come with a 14-day money back guarantee so if you are on the fence its worth giving it a shot as install is super simple.

Got mine today.

But I dunno, I must be getting old, I didn't rush to install it.

With snow on the ground and narrow snow tires, the extra power is just going to net more flashing of the traction light. So I am going to wait a couple of days till it's in the mid 40's.

I just installed my BMS Tune this weekend...wow! There is a noticeable increase in power and torque. Before I installed it, I did a few 0-60 test runs with a stopwatch as a point of reference. Best time I got before the install was 5.7 seconds. After the install, on the same road, time was 4.9 seconds. My car is a 2012 328i with manual transmission. Install took a little longer than I expected. The first plug, under the engine cover, was a pain to get to, but after that the rest of the install was simple.
