With snow on the ground and narrow snow tires, the extra power is just going to net more flashing of the traction light. So I am going to wait a couple of days till it's in the mid 40's.
Haha, I have been excited to order some parts and anxiously await their arrival only to have them sit under my desk at work for weeks and weeks, I know the feeling.

Install took a little longer than I expected. The first plug, under the engine cover, was a pain to get to, but after that the rest of the install was simple.
Nice!! It's an awesome bang-for-buck mod

Now the wait begins for stage 2! Had some fun the other night with a friend's stage 1 GTI. Pulled on him, but not as much as I'd like. Stage 2 GTI would probably be even, possibly pull on me a bit.

APR stage 1 was a big diff, larger boost increase than BMS stage 1. Going to stage 2 in the VW was not that large of a difference.

Looks like around 10whp & 15wtq gain from APR Stage 1 to Stage 2 for the MKVI GTI, on 91 at least. At 3000lbs, they're pretty quick, if the driver can manage the traction alright.

Anyways, didn't mean to go off topic there!

No contest against the R though. Maybe the 335i might be competitive.

A stock R is not faster than a stage 1 GTI. A tuned R, that is when things get interesting. A stock R traps under 100mph, it's not faster than an n20 328.

Various claims about 0-60 stock R being from 5.5s to 5.8s, about the same or slightly faster than the stock 328i. As I stated, a better competitor to the 335i.

Every magazine test here has the 328 at 5.4-5.7 and 13.9-14.3 at 98-100mph. No need for the 335 as that matches or beats the R. The R here has 256hp, yours may have 270hp and be a bit faster.

From a roll, stock Golf R would pull on a stock 328i, stage 1 + DP 328i would pull on a stock Golf R, and a tuned Golf R would pull on a stage 1 + DP 328i (with our current software options at least).

Basically, tune a Golf R and our 328i's have no chance with current mod options

Making these assumptions based on the pulls I made with a Stage1 + Intake MK6 GTI and comparing various dynos of this setup Vs Golf R setups.

I don't know about that. Traps speeds indicate prowess from a roll.

Stock F30 328 traps 99-100mph, tuned stage 1 is 104-105.

Show me the trap speeds for the R. I have not seen magazines crack 100mph in one. The stage 1 GTI is faster, most crack 100mph.

Numbers fall perfectly in line with the 328.

Pretty much what I expected. Now get the BMS Stage 1!

I love how this thread has turned into a 328i Vs. Golf speed comparo

Looks like he got a pretty good initial jump that you could not overcome.

N20 tuning is pretty new here, but the R powerplant has had a good amount of time for the aftermarket to support it.

Stock for stock, I say it's a drivers race, and mod for mod, it is as well but quickly the R's aftermarket support will trump ours. An APR or REVO tune is more of a complete product than our piggybacks.

We know what the stock and tuned 328i is capable against the clock, so it's good to see comparisons against other cars now.

Seriously considering the JB1 for my 328i.

Stage 1 GTI will pull a stock n20, but should be a drivers race with a tuned N20, but my money is on the n20.
