Will Apple Price Match John Lewis

I know JL will price match Apple, but will it work the other way?

I'm going to buy a new iPhone outright, and the 8+ in red I want is cheaper at JL (but OOS) than it is at Apple direct.

Why not just buy it from John Lewis? Surely they deserve the business if it's cheaper. Just seen the OOS bit - shame if they're not getting more in.

I would imagine they won't match as they know you'll pay more money to buy from them.

You get a 2 year warranty from JL too.

In practice you do from Apple also, even if it isn't written.

Does it not have to be in stock at both places for a price match to happen?

I remember back when Comet used to do price match's but only if the item was in stock at the competitor

Same here. Over 2 years old in fact and lost its cellular capability (couldn't see SIM card)

They just swapped it out under goods fit for purpose blah blah and because I bought it directly from Apple.

It's under warranty, nothing to do with whom you purchased it from, it's who manufactured it.

If it's cheaper at one place than the other, then the business working harder for your custom should deserve it. Otherwise good businesses go bang and bad businesses who rely on stupid people spending more than they need to 'because' it's Apple blah blah blah are still in business.

I just bought direct from Apple again - and would do so everytime - they replace without hesitation on issues if you buy from them - if you buy from JL, to save the £30 they would send you back to JL for them to repair it.

Doesn't make sense to spend 800 and save 30 given the quality of service buying direct adds.

I've taken apple products bought via vodaphone and Currys back to the Apple store for repair/replacement and never been questioned about it or sent away.

So never got as far as asking Apple, and the phone was back in stock with JL this morning so just ordered it there.

In my experience, Apple don't care where it was bought if you take it to them. If anything goes wrong, my first port of call will be Apple. If there's any cost involved, it'll be taken to JL

In warranty they won't if the fault is obvious.

We had two separate iPhone 6's replaced out of warranty without quibble by the apple store which others wouldn't have covered without a report.

I've had a replaced battery on an I-phone and a total replacement of an iPad that wouldn't take any charge at the Apple Store, neither of which were bought direct from Apple.
