My mom did this once. No seat belt, just coasting in her X5 to move her car. The car flipped out and took her a minute to get it to move again

Heh, I learned that yesterday. Wanted to move the car a foot or two forward so I left the door open, went right into park.

I did this yesterday, took the wife shopping, she went to dispose of the trolley so I thought I’d back the car out, didn’t realise my door wasn’t fully closed, selected reverse and it moved and then thunk back into park, tried a further 2 times before I looked at the idrive screen and realised what was going on. The strange thing is that in all 3 attempts the car would start moving back before it would engage park. Wouldn’t it have just been better to not allow reverse or drive to be engaged at all if the door is ajar?

My wife never used the mirrors or even the rear camera when backing up, she always turned around to look out the rear or rear quarter windows. I never understood why.
