All Season Tires v/s Performance Tires on 2016 X5

Hi All- My apologies if this question is asked before in this forum. I am booking a 2016 X5 and unable to decide if I should stick with default 19" all season tires or go with 20" summer tires.

I am going to lease the vehicle. I live in SF bay area so no snow but i might do one of two trips a year to lake Tahoe.

Depends on you and your driving. If you're doing spirited driving and in it for the handling then yes summer tires. If not then all seasons are perfectly fine on the X5. Although summer tires do make driving a lot more fun.

Depending on how many trips to Tahoe youre talking about, you may be able to get away with a summer and use chains when going to the snow? Otherwise, in terms of All Seasons, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 would be a great option. The DWS stands for Dry, Wet and Snow. They perform like a High Performance All Season, but they are snow capable at the same time. They are extremely popular with our customers.

I can vouch for the DWS 06. I have then on my RWD 3-series vs. X5, but have been super impressed with both dry handling and wet grip here in Seattle.

Not sure there is a better price/performance all-season on the market than these.
