+1

ER Catted is a great high flowing DP.. Catless for best performance but the ER catted is pretty close to the performance of the catless as ER uses very high flo cats.

What are the gains of the cg ds-1?? And does the CEL turn on?

Catted downpipes are usually about 50% of the gains of castless.. So catted usually around 10-15 or so.

On stock turbos, high flow catted and catless offer same gains.

How much loudness added compare to stock downpipe with mppsk?

Very fucking loud. I have a downpipe paired to an AWE Tuning exhaust, which is similar in noise level to the MPPSK. I've recorded over 100db at WOT. MPPSK is going to be higher pitched compared to the AWE. If you go catless you will get some rasp, I kinda like it since it's unfiltered engine sound. Catted will be slightly quieter and smoother.

If you want me to quantify how loud it is, I'd say 30-50% louder than stock downpipe when paired to MPPSK or aftermarket exhaust. I've also had people tell me they've heard it half a mile away.

Most people can't stand it but I think it sounds amazing - smells good too!

Ah, I was having catted downpipe with full awe exhaust, but it was still too loud for me, especially in the morning. Now I got the stock dp with mppsk, the cold start is finally not a nuke detonation lol. But my old setup does sound more aggressive, and more pops . Still can’t decide if I should put the catted downpipe back on.

I used to have the exact setup, AWE full exhaust with catless. It was way too loud for me haha. Was hoping the double valve on mppsk could lower the sound in the morning.

I wish fabspeed would create a Downpipe for the 340i. They have a great sport catted downpipe and and it has no CEL reported ever, Which is nice. However they only offer for the 335i as far as i can tell. Supposed to be real quality and you get what you pay for IMO.
For now i am considering the CG DS-1 only concerns is how often people report check engine lights. So there is not thrown codes when going to dealer or emissions if i stay stock. I am planning on keeping stock exhaust for now with the DP only and JB+ i think it will increase sound and tone moderatly with good gains over stock.

JB+ is not recommended when you do downpipes..

Why get a downpipe and not take advantage of the additional power that can be made?

If you are going to invest in downpipes, you should also get a JB4.

I was just hoping for moderate gains did not want to keep maintaing the JB4 and from what i read can be a bit much. I miss the ability to ecu flash tune and forget about it.....or even having a cobb access port with different custom tune maps on my STI did not bother me either. Just dont want to go over the cliff of reoccuring bugs and rough driving experience until the car is no longer new. I considered just doing the downpipe alone for better sound and hopefully 10+ hp

Search the forums. I, along with other members have not reported a CEL with the CG DS-1 downpipe. That was the main reason I purchased it.

So if i was to swap just the dp and do no other mods would it still be a noticeable gain. I really want to do just dp see a power gain keep the exhaust moderatly quite with a deep growl. I consdiered the JB+ just for a little added boost, but how does the JB4 adapt to the changes in mods as a piggyback ecu bolt on mods should have a simular gain regardless of a jb4. I realize thats the way to get the most power out of it.... but would my setup be bad in anyway i wanted to do the JB+ while in Italy and then in a year swap up to the JB4 and install when i got back to the US.

You will get some gains with a DP. How much? That depends. Obviously with a tune you'll reap the most benefits, but I don't have one.

I know I've been posting this everywhere, but I dyno'd 344 hp / 355 torque, then 333 hp / 375 torque. Mods are in my signature. I don't think the intake/exhaust is doing a whole lot. I think most of my gains are from the DP.
Depending on how much you up the boost with the JB+, you may start to see throttle closures. These can be somewhat or mostly remedied with EWG wires as an add-on for the JB4.
