AFE Intake on top of the MPPK ?

I recently got the MPPK installed, is it possible to have the AFE intake installed ? I know they replace the bottom airbox but....

You can always swap it out for the AFE...you just won't see as great a return as you would have without the MPPK...theoretically.

But it can definitely be done!

I have done it, sounds nothing like the vented MPPK airbox.

Did you perceive any performance gain (besides the sound improvement) on top of the MPPK?

Yes, I would say minor gains as the filter is more free flowing and takes in air in from all sides.

With only a MPPK tune I tried dynoing with the original airbox, the "improved MPPK box and this with a free flow filter in.
Did the test without any filter in the box and the top off.
As one of the guys said: "Well, now I have prove this filtershit is nothing but sound effect. At least when the mods are in the light end".
Save your money unless you want to mod heavily

Did it for the sound brother, which is why I said very minor increase in performance if any. I was going to also say its not worth the money for power, but for the sound its worth it (to me at least). I will only be modding my car with bolt ons (ie catted downpipe and exhaust). No JB4 for me (well worth the money for the power delivered) as I own my car and feel its not worth the risk.

That's what I want to do, I want a bit more sound as long as it's not too obnoxious like a ricer. MPPK + MPPE is great on sport mode but, I can't hear it from inside the cabin which is annoying

If you did a lid off test on f series, was it n55 engine ?

I ask as leaving top off the oem airbox doesn't stack up, given that lid on n55 has feeder pipe built into it to inlet side of turbo.

Yes n55 f30. We tried all sorts of possible ways to see if one was better/worse than another set-up. The main purpose was to see if the K&N type filter insert was better than the original and completely a box with nothing in. But we tried with the lid open too,- not with it dismounted.

The dismount might have done something and produced higher numbers. The stock intake piping seems to be flat on top and sucks air up from the top of the air box. The afe magnum intake has a fully round pipe and sucks in air from 360 degrees (less restriction). It has to produce more power even if it is minimal.

maybe, but considering the test was done at 5 degree Celcius the engine should get all the air it could use.
However I'll try find out next time we get bored..
