If you have all -seasons then you should be okay. It all depends on your comfort level and how poorly they plow the roads where you live. If you have performance tires you will definitely want a dedicated winter tire.

You have the 19" 403s which come with summer tires so you will absolutely need to get a winter set. I am in the same situation and will be ordering from tirerack very soon. Believe me you do not want to drive even in even a dusting of snow with those stock tires. I made the mistake of driving my G35 with summer tires in a half of inch of snow and it might has well been a sheet of ice. Scary!

PeteNJ.... good to know... When I was a kid I would drive my camaro, with all seasons mind you, year long... I was a broke kid, and never had issues... however, probably worth the $$ here...
What rims are you going to pick up ??? I really dig my 19 M wheel upgrade... But I was also pondering taking the rubber off these (if they can do so safely), tossing snows on these rims... then in the spring picking up some new 19's and tossing this rubber on... decisions decisions.. Currently, I have the 18's and snows off my old 135 still in storage.. I wonder if those will fit my new 335... hmmmm... |

I ordered with the 19" w/ Summer/Performance tires so I will be ordering winters off of TireRack soon so they get here before the car does.
That said, I have decided on 18" Enkei rims, but haven't decided on the tires yet. Since Pirelli has the only winter RFT solution and only average reviews, I think I'm going to go with Michellins and just keep a can of emergency tire repair in case of a flat. Thoughts?

Is Bridgestone not offering the Blizzaks in RFT? I have them for my E90 but they are 18s.

On my '07 E90 I had the standard all-season tires. Never needed snows and had that car out in quite a few storms and back/forth from Syracuse. Never a problem. With the last two cars being RWD 335i's, I stick to keeping her in the garage until the plows have done a good job of plowing and have Blizzaks (non-RFT) on each corner.

XDrive doesn't help you stop in winter..... 'nuff said.
You'll always get people claiming "BAH you'll be fine... I drove through a blizzard in a AWD car with Z rated tires... " blah blah blah blah...... Sure with all seasons, you may have "passable" traction with xDrive (meaning, you might not get stuck), but the minute you need to emergency stop, that hardened rubber will do you a disservice. |

We got our first real snowfall last night, and the roads are covered with 1-2" of packed snow today. I've never used winter tires before and have always stuck with all seasons year round (albeit on cars w/ AWD) despite living in a place where the snow sticks on the ground all winter long. I have to say I was very impressed with the grip from my all seasons today, and felt very secure. Granted, I didn't do any hard braking and ice hasn't formed yet, but I felt like I had a decent amount of grip and traction. I'm getting my winter tires installed tomorrow (Blizzak WS70), but if you are willing to sacrifice some grip and [most importantly] decreased braking distance, you can probably get by without a dedicated set of winter tires in this car if you drive cautiously and defensively.
