It would negatively impact the EPA numbers. I read the MPG numbers are derived using Comfort Mode. makes sense.

Now, a closer question would be whether sport mode should be the default driving mode...

I love ECO pro.

I have been driving my 328 in eco pro about 90% of the time. I use to beat the shit out of my N54, but i am really enjoying just cruising in the N20, with the HK cranked way the F up jamming out to some fresh EDM.

Now, when the N55 comes in i think i will be at the gas station more often
I have only driven in Sport Mode since day one. I find the throttle response very similar to the E46 M3. Now that car had a Sport Mode that was really twitchy on the throttle. The F30 Sport Mode is just fine for me.

I think the main rationale behind the eco-pro mode is to remind you of how crappy this car could have been, and the Sport is to show you how good it really is. Lest you forget!

and this ...

... although I believe BMW was sincere in it's effort in making the car more consumer-friendly. Don't forget, the competition is still getting better gas mileage in some instances, and some people still shop for cars by comparing window stickers. So in a lot of ways this is not a bad compromise.

Full on Sport mode for fun, optional eco-pro for MPG's, emissions and the California bay area.

i think it should save whatever you last place it in

i'd have to say that the sport auto seems to surge around a bit in rolling traffic so i like to set it to comfort then. so sometimes comfort is useful
