I'm on the same page as the OP... I'd like to add a brace like the F80 employs to my F30.
I took a long look at the brace while checking out the F80 at the New York International Auto Show; and the F80 isn't going to drop in a F30 with zero modifications. Not a huge deal, but at the minimum, a reservoir needs to be relocated, and new intake will need to be fabricated.

That sucks! Dont think BMW will make one for the F30 then. It most likely would have cost a fortune anyway. Aftermarket copys will show up shortly im guessing. |

Looks like more than just a few mods. The F30 has nothing solid upfront to mount it too like the F30 to make it look nice. That is one bada$$ piece of CF though.

A couple days/posts ago I pointed out that a custom intake would need to be fabricated (at the least). You post a comment stating "the F30 has nothing solid upfront to mount it to." I respond that it appeared to me like my F30 had the same mounting points as the F80 I looked at. I am not looking to flame; I'm genuinely confused by your post. Are you saying that because the the intake needs to be fabricated the brace "has nothing solid upfront to mount to?" : BTW... Hood clearance isn't an issue as far as I could tell.

The mounts in the front that are missing is no big deal. but the intake is another thing. Think this will be too much work.

The f80 intake looks very similar to the f30? Anyone seen it up close?

Also looks like there is a struct that goes along the back as well.

Torque values are the least of the problems when retrofitting the M brace to any F chassis
There are quite a few expensive parts that need to be installed also for the brace to even bolt up - it doesn't attach to the shock towers directly it mounts to a aluminum brace that spans the entire width of the car, also needed are new strut guide bearings, reinforcement plates, etc. Read this thread & decide for yourself: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1234698 Frankly, it's not worth the price of the brace or the parts needed to install for this mod. Adding a strut brace yields zero (0) difference in the handling aspect of the car during daily driving I had the BMW OEM CF brace on my E92, and the Turner Motorsports aluminum brace now on my F32 - it makes you 'feel' better to install it, but on the street there is no discernible difference. That being the case, I would much rather waste $200 on a brace (like the Turner version that bolts up directly to F chassis) than $2000+ and all the labor for the M brace...

Turner MotorSports sell a bracing of BMW OEM Parts designed to do same type thing for F30. I cannot speak as to how something worked or felt in a E92. |

Here are two pics of 35i cars with the carbon brace installed. Also seen 28i on the forums. This is possible but a lot of work. Also requires aluminum strut brace
