Can't say I'm entirely surprised about the paint problems though. My cousin took delivery of his Tanzanite Blue M4 CP at the start of March and it went straight to the detailers for the G-Techniq treatment. Chap there said it was one of the worst new car paint jobs he'd ever seen and could scarcely believe the car had only been driven direct from the dealer. A partner in the business was on holiday the day my cousin dropped it off but saw it the day after by which time the number plates had been removed in preparation for the detailing work to commence - looking at the paintwork he thought it was at least a 2 year old car!

Upshot was my cousin ended-up with two invoices, one for the work as agreed and the other for the additional work the detailers hadn't expected to do on the basis they were treating a new car. After a few short, sharp, words, the dealer did at least pay the second invoice but very poor such an expensive car can be delivered to a new owner in that state....
Exactly the same with mine.

Please see the following post by the people who detailed my car when new.

https://www.facebook.com/Detailmycar...20808554668695

Particularly the quote: "Lovely car this and we were pleased to be able to transform the finish which was shocking for a new car and certainly up there with some of the worst we've seen so the difference was massive."

Latest update in this saga. New YMB car was built on 15 May and is currently at Thorne awaiting dispatch to dealer. That was bloody quick!

Wouldn't surprise me in the least mate. Good news is that it was in and out of Thorne overnight so no damage incurred on the boat.......

Wow! What a tale of woe, I'm amazed the cars managed to leave the factory in that condition, hopefully this one will be spot on.

Welcome to the Yas club!

Cheers Wills2 I actually saw a YMB M4 in the showroom and wasn't that blown away with it initially but in different lights I realise it changes quite a bit.

The Sakhir Orange is very drab in anything but bright sunlight so I'm now actually looking forward to YMB more and more

Definitely agree on the SO, not a great all round colour! YMB is nice though I’m sure you’ll love it!!

That’s what I love about Tanzanite, it has so many different shades, people who haven’t actually seen it say it’s boring Blue, definitely not it’s an Amazing colour and I wouldn’t change for any other, I was gonna get San Marino but this is nicer to me

Yas looks lovely when clean in the sunlight the hue changes all the time depending on the light.

However when dirty it can look a bit drab, so just keep it clean.

Latest update in this series of "You Just Couldn't Make This Shit Up" . . .

Car arrived at the dealers last week - damaged! I say damaged, its 3 stone chips, all in a line about an inch apart, in the middle of the drivers door. The rest of the car is perfect.

Obviously I'm not happy with this and the dealer knows it although it's not their fault.

There are no other suitable (comparable spec - suitable colour etc) M4's in the country; there are no build slots left (all you buggers jumping on the 0% finance offer!!!)

Next available build slot is in the middle of August for Sept delivery for which an order is going in today as a backstop option.

Bodyshop is going to attempt a local repair rather than repaint the whole door and I'll look at it when done.

Options are then accept this one if the repair is good enough (it will need to be invisible) or wait for a 3rd replacement .......

Pros: New one will be a 68 plate (don't forget, I started out buying a 67 plate), newer tech, I get to keep the current SOII M4 until the new one arrives, dealer has paid for the current RIS.

Cons: Accepting a repair on a brand new car or not having my "own" car still and waiting another 13/14 weeks for "another" replacement.

Thoughts chaps? Am at my wits end with this now........

If the repair is good, then I'd accept it. You might be surprised at just how many cars are damaged during the delivery process and repaired before the first owner ever sees it. Also, you could wait till September and within days or weeks have more damage from just driving it or parking it. It won't remain a perfect new car for very long after all.

It is a little frustrating and does affect the buying experience, but I'd rather just get on with life, and enjoy my new car.

Unbelievable!!!!

I think they should build another and fly you over to see the build/ collect for a Euro trip.

That way no other transport of driver gets anywhere near the car.

I'm beginning to think this way to be honest mate. I think the quality of the repair will be the deciding factor though. Had it been elsewhere on the car, IE, not in plain sight every time you walk up to it, I think I may have been less concerned.

Re damage in transit - I think you're right....

NISFAN - now that would be nice but unfortunately, not an option from in the UK I believe.

Anyone in EU can choose to go over there to pick it up.
Watch the schmee video on pootube where he gets to have the vip treatment picking up his "new" car.

I recall reading a thread a while back by a guy from the US who took a holiday in Germany to collect his new BMW. He and his wife spent a couple of weeks touring Germany after collection from the factory and finished it off with a few laps at The Ring before sticking it an a boat. I'm pretty sure it was a US-spec car since otherwise importing it into the US would have been a nightmare. Don't see why it should be any more difficult for a UK spec car. You'd probably have to register it yourself on return mind you.

This 100%, on the way back from Kent when I picked mine up from having a new car detail, I got a massive stone chip on the bonnet just above the light.

Drive this one like you stole it, then kick back and relax in your new 68 plate when it turns up.. Win win situation.
