whichever BMW I can get into for a similar monthly. I have pretty fixed transportation cost ceiling, especially with child # 2 and epic daycare/preschool expenses, I gotta roll with a similar payment so my dreams of rolling in a 440i GC or something like that are going to have to go on the back burner. If this is correct and the 2019 320i gets 204HP stock, I could see myself either leasing one of those with the sport pkg, or finding some leftover 330i for a song. I don't much care and just want a BMW sedan that I can commute with that drives decent and has the ol' roundel on the hood so all my friends think I'm a baller.
http://www.bmwblog.com/2018/02/12/en...ies-uncovered/ 320i 204 hp 6-speed manual, 8-speed auto RWD/xDrive IF this is the case, it would take the 320 up to low 6 sec range and with RWD, spork pkg etc. it could be a fine commuter. Although again, if I didn't have to have the new model, I could find some lot lizard outgoing sad F30 330i thats been on some dealer lot for like 9 months and prob lease that for a pittance. Beats driving a Jetta.

After numerous issues/breakdowns with my last 3 BMWs, it's kinda turned me off. Already turned in my wife's X5 and replaced it with a Lexus RX450h after the engine blew (at 25k miles but 7 months out of warranty. My 335 has had more issues than I can count so thinking of a Lexus as well when it comes time. They have awesome build quality. The only thing that turns me off is their horrendous computer/control system.
Also considering a Tesla Model X, but not sure the reliability on those is any better. Still love driving my BMW, but just feel they are falling behind. |

What caused the motor to blow in the X5? What motor was it?

On the topic of this thread...probably M240i next, or if I want something cushy, a 5 series. Would consider the turbo Mazda6 as well. By then, the kinks in that new motor will have been ironed out.

As for problems, have you had new or used BMWs? My last 2 have been new, leases and I have had exactly 0 issues. Quote:
If I didn't have 2 kids, I would get an m240i in heartbeat. Basically same price as a well optioned 328i and blows it out of the water in every respect except space.

I have four years to go...
My 2018 S5 Sportback covered the major weaknesses in the F3x platform - run flat tires, wind and road noise, no sport suspension with xDrive - but I crave more excitement. The forthcoming (12 months?) RS5 Sportback could be an expensive candidate, but I suspect that a C53 AMG is no more than two years away. What I'd really like, for say $75,000 Canadian, is a car with over 400 bhp, eTurbo (zero lag) and the convenience of a liftback, preferably a little lighter and with better weight distribution than the S5 Sportback. BMW could do this, but it is unclear at this point exactly how they intend to treat the Gran Coupe with a gasoline engine.

I replaced my 428 GC M-Sport with a 2015 C400 CPO...it's very fast and nice interior but I'm missing my BMW...if I still feel the same in a few months I'll trade it for a 435 or maybe 640 Coupe.

I have a fetish for quick sedans: 335i and S4 were my two options as of ~8 months ago...having gone w/ the 335i, I'm still curious about the S4.

Basically where my head is at...I was more insistent on getting a sedan this go around. My wife actually prefers a coupe. We dont have kids. I dont know what I was thinking.

I definitely not partial to just BMW's... I'll be looking again in 4-5 years but after some looking... the new Genesis G70 caught my eye... a used one after 3 years would be a great deal considering it has a 10year/ 100,000 mile warranty... but hey that's too far away to say exactly what I'll be doing.... after all this probably lease my cars again so I can have more variety in a shorter period of time... I'll be older also so maybe a merc...lol... let's see how the new G20 is first...

I agree with you that portions of the Lexus interiors feel cheap. For example in my car the "aluminum" is actual real aluminum, in many of the Lexus products its a brushed plastic. It doesn't feel or look as good. The switch gear in my wife's RX isn't as nice as it was in our X3. The infotainment you do get used to but its NEVER as good as iDrive. The Lexus however is thousands less, new or used...many thousands really. Also the overall built quality and fit and finish in the Lexus products is better than BMW in many respects. The RX rattles less and its quieter inside than our X3 was and compared with my F30? I you might as well put the windows down in the Lexus to compare to my F30... The reliability has been fantastic on the Lexus, it basically doesn't break. At all...period and the dealership experience is tremendous. Much MUCH better than my BMW experience. Also the Lexus IS and GS in F Sport guise drive more sporty than BMW's equivalent products, which is really odd thing to say but its true. At the end of the day thought, I felt the turbo 6 coupled with the ZF8 in the BMW was a better drivetrain combo than anything I could get in Lexus for a reasonable price. BMW still has the better overall package but Lexus has been doing things right for a very long time and that appears as if it's going to continue. The Lexus GSF has me looking...(CPO)
