HID light out, won't turn back on with normal bulb

I installed HIDs in my halogen headlight and I thought my HID went out, but I put the normal bulb back in and it still don't get any light. Do I have to reset it or something?

This actually happened to me a while back... It fried my headlight panel. I had to get it replaced. If you placed the original bulbs back in before you brought your car in, BMW should replace it under warranty. If not... thatll be an easy $1400..

You guessed it. The bmw here in Omaha are douchebags and are charging me 1800 to replace the FEM module that was short circuited.

Really disappointed with underground euro with this one. I brought this to their attention when I first installed it and now it fried my FEM module.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY would you bring it into the stealership with a headlight problem with a modded headlight?

Not to rub salt in your wound but that was a $1800 mistake you'll never make again.

Always revert back to OEM when bringing into BMW with problems.

Wow... Underground Euro's HID kit did the exact same for me. But I swapped the bulbs back to oem before going into the dealership and they fixed it for free. sorry to hear they got you.. It took the dealership here in california about a day to fix it, but i guess they were idiots and didnt know how to put my lowered car on their ramp.. After it was fixed I tried a different HID kit from ebay and its still working. This was about a year ago.

Interested to see when you guys bought kits. I know they mentioned they changed their ballasts at some point.

Garage List
bmw  [0.00]
In all my previous non xenon BMWs I always installed MTEC HID. Not a single issue on any of the cars ranging from e46, e87, e70.

They are more expensive but IMO well worth it.

Damn I was just about to order a kit from them, can anybody recommend a reliable HID kit that they have used for a while?

I wonder if you can erase the vehicle history with Esys... would look suspicious with no history for the cars modules, but they couldn't prove any wrongdoing hopefully.

I spent the past two hours at my buddy's shop checking fuses, testing connections & grounds, and ultimately pulling all of the HID equipment off my car for this same apparent reason. I'm putting the factory lights back in and taking the car into the dealer tomorrow morning.

My HIDs worked for about a year and a half with an intermittent "right low beam malfunction" light as well, just in case anyone was wondering. Silly BMW for putting a computer chip behind every single piece of electronics on the car.

To the Guys, who bought the underground euros hid kit for the low beam and had an issue with the FEM mod. I have a few questions about the install.
Did you leave the ballast in the head light or did you guys drill a whole threw the cap and mount the ballast outside the head light?

Drill a hole through the cap. Seems to be the only way to do it considering the tight quarters in which you're working.

Update after taking my car in this morning for this issue -

Besides the passenger light not working, the entire driver's side inner assembly somehow broke off of the mounting post or whatever it is called. Even though I put everything back to stock the dealer is saying that BMW will deny the warranty claim because someone was "clearly" messing with the headlight assemblies. Apparently BMW expects a person to not change a headlight bulb even if it burns out and even if the owner's manual says exactly how to do it because if the owner touches it than it must be his or her fault that it broke.

On top of that the service advisor thinks a new bulb with fix the passenger side that is burned out, even though I know that isn't the problem.

Has anyone figured out why this is happening and if the current version has the same issue?

You have aftermarket coil-overs and they are still honoring your warranty?
