To me the hybrid doesn't make any sense.....if it had a 20D engine in it, and really pushed the economy side of things, it could be quite an interesting vehicle.

As it has lots of power it only appeals to petrol heads......except......petrol heads want the power from a proper engine, not an oversized starter motor, so not sure who would buy it.

I am thinking they pitched at the 'high end' of the 3 series range as it costs a fortune to manufacture.

I still think a 335D is on the cards, but yes it probably would make the AH3 seem pointless.

But as we can see from this image, all these engines are almost here, except 325d and 335d/xdrive:

So hopefully we really get the 335d too...

Not that image again

That image is taken from before BMW announced that they were NOT going to make the 335D

C'mon Al, it's time to show us this announcement, as none of us want to believe

My mate has ordered a Active Hybrid 5 Series. Just can't see the point, slower than a 535d by half a second, and 6 mpg less efficient. Oh, and it's also got less boot to accommodate the 144kg of batteries.

It's also more expensive....but they do seem in vogue in the states

Regarding the 40d engine to the current 3 series (f30 model) is I admit a bit optimistic, however in there previous models I.E 3/5/6 series they all had the same engines implemented.

I do strongly believe they will at least make a 335d on the current f30 range, purely because of the twin turbo edition....

"fingers cross" 😁

Common BMW show all VW's dressed in Audi suit what you're about 😉😉

That was just a US thread on here though, not a BMW press release
