I have had the same problem with cracking noise from the doors. Drove me completely crazy .The problem turned out to be the seal on top of the doors, a felt-like seal. This seal-line seems to generate friction noise for every small twist in the chassis.
What worked as a solution for me was to wash it clean with a general purpose lemon based cleansing spray from 3M in combination with a toothbrush (to brush the felt clean), and wipe it dry with a cloth. The friction noise seemed to reappear every tine I washed the car, but after I started cleaning the felt-gasket as a last step, the doors are all quiet - no crackling noise at all. |

My car had the issue with all four doors. I kid you not, any other rattle (of which there were several) was completely obliterated by the constant creaking.
Dealer applied some kind of a felt tape during the last warranty service and it's been over a month with no creaking. I forgot how quiet these cars can be. |

I can't find the same type as I bought in a local shop, but this has the same characteristics. Citrus base with no filmy residue. Just a small amount needed since it´s quite efficient.

I did a 3rd round of gummi pfledge (GP) today an am happy to report that I'm now 99% squeak-free!
The first application cut the squeaks by 50%. The second application cut another 40%, and the 3rd application got another 9%. So I'm about 99% squeak-free now, and a much happier camper. For the final two applications I applied the GP really liberally, and rubbed the seals pretty well. I also focused my efforts only on the upper half of the seals, i.e. from 9 to 3 on a clock. I also hit up the doors really thoroughly, not just the door frame opening in the body. Hopefully this will last a while. It's not terribly hard to do so if it gets me through a few months I'll be ok with reapplying a few times a year. |

I've also eliminated 99.9% of the noise with the OEM BMW Door Seal Lubricant, which I believe to be simply Krytox.
Had to apply a few coats and also had to wait a few days for it to fully soak in. Now it's silent! dL |

Great! Made an appointment to take my car in next week, my SA has definitely dealt with the issue before. He mentioned the teflon tape, replacing door seals/molding etc. We'll see if this fixes it, if not, I'll pick up some of the stuff you're using. Mine is not too terrible, but just enough to be annoying...

I have had this same popping cracking noise coming from rear passenger door for a few months now. coming from S2000, I am usually pretty tolerable when it comes to rattles and wind noise. Nothing is as bad as S2000 when it comes to noises.
But the cracking noise is getting worse and worse and finally i brought my car in to the dealer today. They just called and they said they found a clip was loose on my B pillar (where door connects to the rear window). When i was driving, the B pillar was "moving" without the clip. They said they replaced the clip and added some sound damping crap. I will go get the car tomorrow morning, let's see if it is any good. |

I finally heard this "cracking" noise everyone seems to be talking about. It actually scared the crap out of me as i thought something hit my windshield glass but then it hit me ahhh this is the crack that people were talking about. Mine only occurs when i turn my car off after a drive. Doesnt happen all the time just once in a while. I can totally live with it and doesnt bother me a big deal but then again im just stoked to be driving my car everyday.

I had this on every four door BMW since my E39. My dealer has applied Teflon tape to the doors. The tape is invisible and eliminates the noise completely for years. Do not ever put any lubricants on the seals. It will guarantee things will get worse. Let the dealer apply the Teflon tape

I've had the Teflon tape on my F30 for roughly half a year now.
The tape is holding up well and the noise has not returned. I have asked my dealer here about the longevity of this solution and if the tape ever needs to be replaced. They said they've been applying this to cars for a few years now and none have ever needed to be replaced. Apparently, the 5 series has it even worse. |
