(Another) Base Audio Upgrade.
Hi all, I have read as much as I can but cant find a solution that seems to help me, albeit my knowledge is very limited.
Basically I want to add my 2 channel AMP to my car and a sub. I have a 435i with the bog standard audio (no amp or tweeters). Ive read into harnesses by Technic etc, but cant find how the harness would send the RCA out to the amp. Also dont want to splice Any help is muchly appreciated as I dont want to spend the money on the stealers Alpine upgrade. Again, sorry for posting something so widely covered but I cant find a solution for my scenario. Cheers. |

Cheers, yeah I struggled to find a price on that without getting in touch with the stealers. How much did you pay if you dont mind me asking?
Would you say the Alpine amp has enough improvement over stock? |

If you really have the base stereo, I would recommend to first add a good amp for your current speakers, first than plan next steps. A good amp alone can do magic, I did an upgrade on my car last week, basically as step 1 only added an amp and the difference is huge. I originally intended to also replace the speakers right away, and probably will do so in the near future anyway, but the improvement over the base stereo sound is already by now so big, that I am satisfied for now
You can check my upgrade thread here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1363622 I tried to list all the info that may be helpful to anyone looking for a good value upgrade. The total cost so far was around 100 usd for the connectors, cables etc and 300 for the amp. For the next step, upgrading the speakers, I'll probably go with the Match MS-83C speakers. |

I went though the same thing a couple of years ago.
A forum member Technic sells plug an play cables for you to add a signal sensing amp. This is your best approach. Your sound will however be a bit bright with the base stereo since BMW pumps up the highs to compensate for the lack of tweeters. I find it acceptable on my end but I ended up also changing my front speakers to the focal IFBMW-S component set. You can at one point buy a true component set later on where you can attenuate the tweeters to you liking. This can be a stage 2. My amp is also a five channel which drives my components, my under seat subs (which IMHO suck on base stereo so I have them crossed over to deliver very little bass) and a 12 inch sub. The install is not to bad. PM me if you ever have any questions. I would be happy to help if I can. Regards, Carmo |
