+1 for me

I'm leaning towards ordering the Blizzak LM60 in 18" and with the M5 reps...

Where did you get the M5 reps? Ebay? I like the looks of them but worried about going 9" rears in the winter! will have to go with a wider tire in the back as the 225/45/18 says it only fits up to a 8.5" wheel.

Can you further explain this please?

I got a tire shop that deals with my cars and he's quoting me a complete package price...

He's referring to the maximum recommended wheel width for that size. The tread width on a 225 tire is theoretically just over 8.75 inches (actually varies by tire). Installing it on a 9" wide wheel would stretch it quite a bit.

I agree, the blizzak isnt that great in performance driving, if you were in a race! But for general winter driving, it is a great performing tire. I had the Blizzak's on a 2009 Mini Cooper S and it was an absolute tank in the snow.

Anyone have any experience with the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 ZP? I'm looking for a good balance between dry performance and snow handling, and this tire seems to getting decent reviews on TireRack... Thanks!

PA4 is already out for this winter ... therefore, the PA2 is at least 3 winter seasons ago and if you do buy them, find out the date of manuf. as well. Although it may still be new but the rubber compound may have started the aging process already as it sits & sits ....

Maz, have you considered the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D? Had them on an e90 325 and they were amazing.

Never heard of them...

Anyway I ordered a set of M5 Black reps in 18" with the Blizzak LM60 today. He'll install them on my car some time in November.

Even though Michelin is selling the PA4, they are still making the PA2 and PA3 for that matter. I purchased a set of the PA2's for my F30 back in December and they had a manufacturer date from 2012.

I had the Dunlop SP Wintersport 3D recommended to me by my tire shop for my previous car - absolutely loved them in the dry/wet and they were grippy in the snow. Great wear too. Will get these for the 335 next season, easy decision for me. My issue is figuring out wheels...

Winter Sports

I've had terrific luck with these tires in snow, ice and dry roads (owned 3 sets over the last 12 years).

If you have never heard of them....go to Tire Rack. It has the most user comments/votes of any winter tire on the site. Very favorably received tire. Blizzak is a great tire as well.
