MMI CIC/NBT Harness
Hey All!
I'm looking at a used MMI from Bimmertech but the car it's coming from is a 2016, I have a 2013. Are all the wires and harnesses different? Or can I just buy this used unit and install it in my 2013? The 2016 is obviously NBT, I have CIC Pro Nav in my car. Thanks! |

Update: did the install over the weekend and it is the exact same harness. Anyone looking to get the Bimmertech MMI upgrade should look used first! Paid $115.00

This will be off topic, but why do people post things that are of no help? You asked about the Bimmertech MMI harness and the first reply was telling you to wait and do an iDrive retrofit...those are two totally different animals. |

If anyone is looking for help installing the Bimmetech HDMI MMI with a (non-bimmertech) backup camera post below! It can be a bit tricky if you're not familiar with electronic wiring. |

You paid $115 for a refurb MMI? Good deal. Didn't you also have to buy a SmartView HD FLEX to mirror at $250? |

Thanks! I was skeptical at first since it came from a wrecked car but got lucky I guess.
I'm pretty sure the whole Smartview/Smartview Flex HD is just a modified Apple TV/Stream Stick running through the HDMI ports on the MMI itself. There's a supplied 5V standard USB plug on the MMI A/V Harness that can be used to supply power to a device. I suppose I could find a cheap HDMI dongle and plug it into the HDMI&USB and Airplay from my phone to the CIC. I'm really under-utilizing the HD MMI from Bimmertech but I just REALLY needed a backup camera to fit into these tiny spaces our apartment gives us. Not sure if it's worth mentioning but Dynamic Guidelines work on this hack as well. I have no idea how, but they work PS: If you do this, the guidelines built into some of the backup cameras are there but NOT ACCURATE :P EDIT: Here's the camera I purchased to hookup to the MMI. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Overall this cost me about 175.00$ Last edited by cneda105; 11-16-2018 at 03:02 PM..
