MY2014 Cutoff Date

Does anyone know the final/official cutoff date for ordering a MY2014 car? It looked like from what I could find that the MY2013 cutoff was May 20th last year, so I'm curious if the same for 2014 this year.

Thanks!

Steve

I just tried to order a 2014 mSport AH3 last weekend and the dealer told me the order "docket" was closed for MY2014 and I'd have to wait a few weeks for MY2015 one to open....

Yeesh. Hope that's not the case. Two dealers I'm talking to are still okay they've told me. One only has a single allocation left for the model I want. Haven't confirmed with the other. I'm hoping your dealer was just out of allocations for MY2014 and they would not be able to access their 2015 allocations until I believe 5/19 at the earliest.

Thanks for posting! I'll keep pushing...

Agree it sounds like an allocation issue. They are probably scarce all over at this point for 2014.

Not sure, maybe allocation, it it an AH3 which doesn't seem that in demand...

I don't really mind getting the 2015 as long as there isn't a big gap on pricing.

I hope the dealer isn't screwing with me.

I figured it was going to be about a 500-1k increase based on previous years, and the loss of the option credit etc. So I figured about a 2k hit at the least.

Just signed the papers on my tonight. Interestingly there are apparently different allocations between Munich and South Africa as a manufacturing facility. The Munich ones are harder to come by, I was able to lobby to get that at least. Benefits of a smaller dealer.

Orderanalog, also will be interested to hear any of your thoughts on the 335i compared to your S4. I drove the S4 with the DCT and really liked it. Ended up going with the 335i because I felt it was a little more flashy looking, better back seat, and would be cheaper to maintain in the long run (in part because of my familiarity with BMW's from the years and doing a lot of work myself). Love the Audi's overall, but can't seem to get as good of a deal on them, and they are a little more reserved overall.

sdhotwn,

Without trying to start a flame war, I'd say the S4 has a slight edge on the 335i... In my case I'm acquiring the ActiveHybrid 3, which has a slight torque bump over the 335i, making it feel slightly closer in day to day driving to my S4. I'm really doing it for money though.

When I bought my S4 I was driving 20 miles a day. Now its 75-80, plus down in Miami, I can ride the highway express lanes for free with a hybrid. So the AH3 will save me hundreds a month between the gas and tolls, because my S4 struggles to get higher than 21 mpg on average in rush hour traffic.

I also think the tech in the BMW is way better right now. The B8.5 S4/S5 has nearly decade old tech and its annoying (I drove the B8 platform in 2007, and that tech was a carryover from the 2005 A6 platform even back then). In addition, I happen to think the F30/32 looks a bit more aggressive/masculine than the S4/S5 too.

Ultimately though, they are really just different cars that achieve nearly the same goals: killer performance, beauty, luxury and high quality and the choice is really down to personal preference. I could go either way and be extremely happy. We are all privileged folks to be able to drive either car in my mind.

Yeah, it's like Apple/Android around here sometimes on the s4/335i thing . I would agree with everything you said after I test drove the S4. It did feel faster, and the exhaust sounded great I thought. I ordered my 335 with the PPK, so that should help close some of that gap as well on both speed and sound. That DCT was amazing as well, but my wife and I both just like the fun of driving a manual even if it is slower/lower performance these days. Being able to blip in neutral and create overrun whenever I want etc.

Thanks for replying! Your last line is the most true, and hopefully more people can remember that!!!

I wanted to get a MY2014 435i via ED, but my work schedule wouldn't allow me to go to Europe until the end of the year. Hopefully, they make some "decent" changes to the MY2015 like different trim options and CarPlay. I'm not holding my breathe.

Thanks for posting that. I had seen the same sheet, but didn't have access to it. Concern there still being that with 6/14 Munich EOP for the 335i, there is some sort of lead time prior that is the cutoff likely for placing an order. Typically 4 weeks would be what history has suggested. Will be interesting to see when the 2015 build sheet/pricing effectivity comes out (came out 5/24 last year) and confirm that here for people searching for the new model years in the future.

Hello.

Plan to order a European Delivery (August or September 2014) for a 328i; was informed by trusted source that the MY2014's are done and need to wait until the end of May or early June 2014 for the new price/spec sheets/etc.

Hope it's soon!

From what I understood Euro delivery was cutoff at the end of April. So that would match. The 2014 MY is still running though on deliveries etc, but custom allocations are getting quite few and far between. Germany ones especially, a few South Africa still left.
