Phone Mult-taskinng with Pandora

Has anyone noticed that if you are connected via a USB or snap-in and you leave the Pandora app that the music just stops? I find this curious since the phone does muti-task and leaving the pandora app in any other scenario does continue to play. Even more curious I had a new Malibu rental this past week and that car had pandora integration too so I tested it out. I found that the "connecting/ed" screen shows "apps" vs "BMW" at the bottom, but more importantly that the app multitasks and music will continue to play! Is this a BMW problem with a pandora problem?

It's annoying to go look at an email or txt or something when you are just sitting in the car and all a sudden the music stops. You then have to let it take it's time to reconnect and switch back to it.

BMW's protocol for iPhone sync does not allow for multi-tasking.

Could change in the future, it's what it is for now. That's why many F30 owners don't bother with apps at all. We don't want our iPhones trapped in the armrest, we don't want to lose text notifications just to hear streaming music we don't want to click through five screens to get a Facebook post. We have BMW Apps option on the car hoping that someday it'll be more useful, don't use it now.

I have a beater 64GB iPod Touch USB sync'd 24/7 for my 25,000 song iTunes collection. I have an iPhone 5 sync'd via Bluetooth for phone and text. That's it. It's the convenient way (some might say only way) to use iDrive and iOS devices right now.
