These may be used to either upgrade your fog lights to HID or to upgrade your halogen headlights to HID.

Technically makes them illegal if I am not mistaken as they are not projector and do not have the ability to be leveled....

Personally I wouldn't touch these with a 20ft pole as they are not OEM and are not projector. I would get a set of Sylvania bulbs or the like and call it a day as at least that isn't messing with the electrics in a $45k car.

You can't just replace the bulbs. The whole headlight assembly needs to be replaced for xenon lights.

Obviously that is not true- you can use and external ballast and xenon bulbs like in the OPs link. I was saying to use Silvania Silver Stars as they give off more white light and do not alter the wiring of the car at all.

A true "OEM" xenon would need ballasts, housings, relays and recoding amongst other things and I doubt the OP wants to go through all that expense and hassle based on his original question.

Yea, you can do that if you want to take the half-ass approach.

Even if you replace your fog lights with xenon ballasts, be warned that it may cause D-CAN errors. I swapped out my fog lights for a pair of xenon ballasts back in 2010, but it kept throwing fog light errors CONSTANTLY in the check control, so after 3 different sets, I finally just went back to the originals.

Can't say I would trust a system that introduces a new power hungry ballast. I ordered my F30 with the standard lights. I'm regretting that a little because I like the look of the whiter xenon lights. My next step is going to be to purchase a set of the Sylvania SilverStar zXe bulbs. If I like them I'll replace all of the H7 bulbs with the zXe's.
