For me, seeing an one of those actual M-badges is nothing I get offended about, it's one of those things for me that just makes me roll my eyes and sigh.

Don't know how it would be BMW's fault, in the end it's up to the owner whether they want the badge or not. Not to mention it's ridiculously easy to look one up on eBay and buy one. My cousin's friend added an M badge to his Camry just to piss off his friend who had an M3
Saw a guy the other day with an A6 2.0T, with what looked like wheels that he colored black with a Sharpie, and worst of all the idiot stuck an S4 badge on it
I really don't get this "offended" stuff. How does this offend anyone? How is it insulting? Tacky maybe but offensive?

The only true sports car that BMW makes is the Z4. ///M cars are fast, but that means little. They are really cruisers.

Want a true sports car? Get an Alfa Romeo 4C. That's as pure as it gets right now.
+1. 6 is a massive GT . Sports car....think, Boxster, Z4, Cayman, Miata, Alfa 4C.............

Zero -or close to it- is my answer and I regularly participate to track days. These cars are not meant to be tracked and are too heavy to really have fun. I have seen a race prepped M6 that was great though (different car from what you buy at the dealership) or a very few guys running an M5 or a Panamera.

The craziest(?) thing I have seen at the track is a Honda Pilot. It was prepped for the track but was still fairly slow.

Should've probably clarified.. I don't really get offended by it, which is why I said the comment about the 650i offended me more. It's annoying/ extremely tacky at the most, not really offensive ( to me at least)

MotoGP uses M cars as Safety Cars. Seeing one of those things at speed through the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca is a real treat. Although this is an M4, I've also seen them run M5s and M6s.

Here's the review from Top Gear UK.

http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/F...Car-2015-04-09

I used to own a motorcycle trackday company. The strangest thing that every showed up was a full dress Honda Gold Wing.

I led him around Thunderhill for a few laps, then pulled into the pits and offered more help, but he said he wanted to ride on his own for a while.

I happened to glance up just at he overshot the entrance of Turn 5, a blind left at the top of a hill... and watched him stop, lose his balance, and send the bike in a barrel roll about 120 feet down the hill.

That's why you always trailer your vehicles to a trackday!

I think it's BMWs fault. BMW started the injustice to the M badge by offering an Msport package on almost all of their cars no matter the price, engine size, model and packages. BMW lowered the integrity of the M badge the minute they put it on their non performance models so who cares if people want to add more M logos to their cars. Any BMW Msport model is really just a genuine BMW knock off of a M performance car to begin with. I personally own a knock off 435i but I only bought it for the appearance and color not the M badge on the kick plates or steering wheel because I know it means nothing. I wish BMW would just loose the whole Msport line and just make the Msport appearance package (less the M logo) the standard look for the more expensive, performance models with the bigger engines. For example all 340i should have the look of the msport but without M logo and the 320i and 328i should stop at the sport line. This will distinguish the model by look and won't hurt the M3 buyers public perceived value. My brother has an I8 and I don't think it has an M logo anywhere on it. It is faster sportier more performance oriented and looks way better then my 435I Msport. This really shows how low the M logo has fallen and how dumb it looks that my msport has a M logo on its steering wheel and kick plates.

It's to the point where even if I bought a new M3 I might honestly consider debadging the exterior entirely (of M logos).
To the point where you'd have to resort to debadging it entirely "if you had an M3"? What would you hope to achieve by doing so?

Would you also rip out all the performance parts that had the M logos on it too?

C'mon people lighten up. I don't see what the big deal is?

To me, the M logo represents performance. This comes in all forms, not just by engine size

It's the customers' fault.

Everyone wants to feel "special" or have "exclusivity". BMW is giving the customer what they want with the M badges and endless iterations of the same car. On BMWUSA's website right now, there are 25 versions of the 3/4 series, not including the MSport versions, which would almost double that number. Sedan, Coupe, GT, GC, etc...

Even Mercedes is following BMW by introducing the "AMG Sport" models. But at least Mercedes puts a better engine in them, rather than just giving a facelift a la BMW.

Who cares if BMW is putting M logos everywhere. I see these kind of posts here all the time, as well as on the Mercedes forums regarding AMG Sport. I never gave a crap about M logos, or any logos for that matter. I just care about how the car drives, and if I like it. I don't care what the Joneses think. I have an M Sport and I got it for the looks (nicer bumper, etc.) and handling, not the logo. (I regret my engine choice, but that will be remedied soon with my next vehicle.)

If someone puts an M logo on their 320i, so be it. I wouldn't do it, but at least those who do are happy. Just like the C300 AMG guys out there.

My condolences to all who care that the precious M Logo got pillaged. Perhaps get a session with your therapist?

is that for newest models? I have a '14 335i M-sport and it has neither of these.

This is ruining the ///M badge.
My F02 is the "M sport" edition.

Do you think it's cheesy or violative of the "M" standard?

I have a steering wheel and door sills that have "M" logo.

I had to get M sport edition to get the paddle shifters.

BMW has had ///M parts on non ///M cars for decades. My buddy had an E39 530i with the Sports option. The wheels had the ///M logo and so did the steering wheel. BFD.
