Installed JB4 -- couple of questions
Good afternoon, gents--
I got my JB4 yesterday from BMS, and when I got done plugging everything in, I realized that the newest JB4 enclosure is larger than what I've seen in install photos before. So, locating it parallel to the brace, with USB port facing towards mid windshield is not an option -- it won't fit. I've ziptied the wire loom to the brace, so that the box doesn't just slide around on top of what appears to be a fuse box, but the actual box is just resting on top. Has anyone done a cleaner placement with that bigger enclosure? Also, do you think there's an issue with that USB port being uncovered where it is? I tried to put some electrical tape on it to cover and isolate it, but with engine heat, it just comes off. Also, what various functions/settings get reset when I unplug the battery for 20-30 minutes during install? I reset my clock and the PDC. Is there anything else that gets reset? All the best! |

That's where mine is located. I also have the rubber sleeve on mine too.
Anytime I disconnect the battery I get a stabilization warning for about 5 minutes. My speed warning gets canceled and goes to 4 mph. |

+1 on the rubber sleeve. Also, I'd relocate the harness to run under the brace.

+1 under the brace. I have the billet aluminum case, its big as hell and no easy way to mount it. :/

While were on this topic, and I will adding a JB4 soon, the routing of the USB cable looks pretty different than my past E90. How are you guys routing it in? The BMS instructions call for cutting a hole in the carpet. I have taken the panel under the glovebox where the cabin filter is but did not look to see if from there, there is access to the glovebox. Looking in the glovebox it does not appear that getting the cable in in easy, other than cutting a hole.
