Ambient lighting

What light are actually supposed to change with this setting. I can't see a difference anywhere when I flick from classic to sport????

If you look up at the interior lighting controls in the roof lining, you'll see 2 small LEDs - these change from white (sport) to orange (classic) depending on which setting you've selected. Casts a barely visible light into the cabin during darkness.

Just been out for a play. Turned everything up to max in lighting settings and on instrument cluster and shazam, doors cards light up, led's by interior lights create quite a glow! Looking forward to my next night journey!

Other than the normal light setting adjustments in idrive and on the dash, is there another way (maybe dealer adjustment) to increase the brightness (door cards mainly) of the ambient lighting? In sport it's hardly noticeable at all

Anyone know of a way to adjust the settings at default to make the door card LEDs brighter

I am just going to check this also, changing from "Classic to Sport" does not do much IMO.

Classic is red, sport is white. Pretty massive difference, I'd say And if you turn the brightness up to maximum in iDrive, it's still pretty subtle but then it's supposed to be. It's just ambient light after all I have it set to red and max intensity and it's really good on the motorway.

John....we are talking the same lighting, right?

This is the interior ambiant lighting which bathes the door handle area and the cup holders in a red glow. The main interior lights need to be off to see the effect.

Sport is white light, classic changes it to red....which is my preference

The lighting in the door card. There is an LED strip the tuns the length of the trim above the door handle on each door. Also two lights in the roof where the light and sunroof ( if you have one) controls are. I can barely see the red with everything up to max and the white, well you may as well not bother.

There's an image on the BMW website showing ambient lighting in a 3 series coupe. Looks much brighter than mine. I've turned everything up. There must be a way to adjust this at the dealership, Or with help of bmw assist

Mine is looking really good now, quite bright in fact, there is a small dial next to the lighting switch R/H side, I turned this right up, it makes a difference.

I've done all that and still no joy. It's there but very dim. Anything less than max and I can't see anything at all

What colour interior you got? Seen pics of the beige interior and it really shows up the door card LEDs well. Black on the other hand - not so good, don't really notice it unless cranked up to full brightness. The little 'uplighters' in the B-pillars show up quite well though.

I don't have the up lighters in the B pillars. You mean the ones on the airbag sign? I have black interior by the way. Surely we should see something with the settings on low and then a gradual increase from there. 2 notches from max on mine and then you can't see anything at all.

My loaner has black trim, but with silver handles and the ambiant glow is clearly visible. It is subtle though, nothing like those MAX POWER glow kits

Yep, that's the ones. Not sure if they're model dependent in the UK? Same here though, I've got the black interior and with the brightness set at 50% you can't even really see the door card LEDs, have to have the brightness on max to see anything.

I'm starting to think I've got dodgy eyesight... (then again, I did choose a red car!)

I'm guessing the F31 in the UK didn't get the B pillar up lighters, shame. Once I've got the chillblaines to bed I'm going to call BMW assist for a bit more info. Living the dream, in a Saturday night, lil
