Proper offset for 8.5" wide wheels

Looking at wheels with a +37 offset. Just dont want to rub. Any insight would be appreciated.

You're looking for a square setup?

Depending on tire size I would recommend ET around 30-35 for a rub free setup with 8.5" wide wheels.

ET37 will work aswell but you might want to add 5mm spacers depending on how wide stance you like.

Yes a square setup. I might go with the standard 18x8's if thats the case. Or staggered if i can get away with a +37 rear. Any idea what size of tires would be best for an 8.5? I was thinking 235s but who knows

8.5" ET37 is no problem either in front or rear. Spacers will not be needed it was just some additional information depending on how wide stance you like.

There are a lot of tire options for a 8.5x18" wheel:
225/45-18, OEM size
235/45-18, 1% taller than OEM
245/45-18, 3% taller than OEM
235/40-18, 2% shorter than OEM
245/40-18, 1% shorter than OEM
255/40-18, OEM size

It's up to personal taste, I dont like stretched tires so I would have chosen 245 tires on a square setup.

Don't want to jack this thread, but does anyone know if 18 x 8.5 ET 45's will fit without rubbing/look odd? It would be a square setup.

8.5 ET37 should fit pretty easily.

My concern would be in the fronts.

Based on those measurements, you would have approximately 16mm less clearance to inner strut relative to the OEM 18x8 ET35 setup.

Et37 works perfectly. I just put on a set of alpina reps that are 19x8.5 et37 all around on my diesel wagon and no issues at all with fitment. The only issue to me personally is that I went with the recommended 225/40/19 tire size and it's a bit stretched for my taste with the 8.5 rim (tire provides no rim protection and already curved my rear wheel when parking...lol...oh well)...so wish I had gone with 235 tires even though that would have thrown off the speedometer slightly.

Yeah we test fitted it. It didn't fit. The rim itself rubbed!

Not sure why there are a couple posts stating the OEM tire size for the 8.5" rims is 225. 225 is the OEM size for 8" rims; BMW puts 255s on F30s with 18"x8.5" rims.

I appreciate all the insight, but i posted this quite awhile ago and since then went with an OEM wheel and tire size minus the +32 offset instead of 35.

Yeah also I wasn't sure if 255s would fit on the front since I went with a square set up and I prefer square set ups on my awd vehicles.
