I agree 100%. I'm trying to get rid of my BMW and thats what I'm going to get. I've had 5 Audis. Last was B7 S4 with V8. amazing sounding car.

I replaced my 2007 328i 6MT with a 2011 A4 quattro 6MT for a change, new car, new warranty and all wheel drive. I really liked the build quality of the A4, exterior styling but missed the BMW so much. While both cars had base suspensions I felt like the BMW performed better. Jan 2011, I picked up a X3 35i and a few weeks ago I sold the A4 to CarMax. I do not really miss it at all. From your post it looks like you live in a climate that probably requires all wheel drive, so if you like the styling of the current A4 or refreshed A4 go for it. I think the xdrive 3s will not be out until October per my dealer.

I drove the x drive 335 coupe and just didnt like it that much. BMW and Audi are very different cars. I like them both...just miss Audi...having said that, this 335 is ALL black (BBS Black CH etc) outside and RED and CARBON FIBRE inside...coolest looking car I've ever had.

My current dilema is actually between the 2013 S4 and 2012 328i M Sport.
The 335i isn't considered I think the S4 is the better package for the money.

Appeals of 328i Msport edition:
Excellent handling feel (50/50 weight balance, 650lbs lighter)
Excellent fuel economy
Bang for the buck

Appeals of S4:
AWD / rear sport differential
Stupid raw power (Easy tune)

A tuned 328i M Sport will be pretty awesome I think. I wouldn't be surprised if it beats a stock 335i on the track. I've read that it does handle better stock already than the 335i due to it's perfect 50/50 weight distribution and ligher engine and overall weight.
Even though it's a 4 banger, I can definitely live with it if it'll give me better handling and fuel economy. Reviews have indicated that you couldn't even tell the difference based on how smooth and driveable it is. Might not sound as nice but it's just different I'm sure.
The turn off for the S4 for me is it's very vague steering and heavy feel. I know it'll be faster on the track but it won't necessarily feel faster if you know what I mean.

Are you talking about the F30 3 series with the 4cylinder turbo? I would take that over an s4. The s4 is close to 4000lbs. I drove the N20 motor and its very impressive. Drive a Z4 28i. same engine, adaptive suspension, and zf transmission.

WOW! Are you serious? The BMW 4 will need a big ass tune to match the power of the S4. I had a hard time getting used to the sound of my I6 coming from S4 V8...I've driven A4 and can't take the sound. Thats HUGE for me...maybe not for you though. These two car arent comparable at all really. 335 and S4 are.
If you guys are comparing how a car laps Mosport then thats different. I imagine most of your driving is on paved public roads?

Handling is more important to me then going fast. And after driving the N20, and an s4, there is not enough difference there to make me want the much heavier S4.

Interesting . I just realized that you are in South Florida. BMWs are huge down there and need (want?) for AWD is almost zero. For me AWD is large....we get snow and I want to know I can go anywhere anytime. I don't lik ethe sound or feel of I4 (vibration) but I'm sure thats the way of the future................

I have owned BMWs exclusively since 1977 and currently on my second 335i coupe. My next car is going to be the 2013 S4. Audi is becoming what BMW used to be and BMW is becoming like a German Lexus.

335 is a great car. But i have a good feeling(especially after driving the N20 and trying the sport ZF8 speed. That the 328 will be a great, car.

Why don't you say this to all the BMW owners who have the same opinion. The problem with some of you is that when another brand builds a better car you are too butt hurt to admit to it. I don't have this problem at all in saying the 328i is better than the A4 but to say it is better than an 335i or an S4 is retarded. The fact is that both the 335i and s4 outsprints this car buy about a second 0-60 and in the quarter mile both the bigger hp and engine cars will win also. The problem with people like you are you don't read magazines nor test drive cars you have opinions on. The perfect example is saying the S4 is 4000lbs and understeers. Do yourself a favor and either learn to drive or to read. This may help you gain some knowledge about things you speak about and prevents you from looking ill informed.

If you can read please tell me how these reviews is saying the s4 understeers. Better yet if you can provide me an article where they say the S4 understeers. I am willing to bet that I can provide you more articles saying the 3series understeers more than the S4.

If you don't like reading magazines because you think they are biased than read this post by your own BMW owner who has both the 335i and the S4 and tracks both cars. Read his opinion and especially post 11. Then get back to me about your S4 understeers fanboy crap.
