still no dice...
I must have comfort access because I can walk up to my car and touch the handle to open it, I just can't open my bloody boot with my feet...not that I care, just something I'd like to explore. FAIL!

She has the RF access on her Nissan, and on the Nissan you can hit the small button on the door handle once to unlock the drivers door, and twice to unlock all doors. But it seems like on the 3 you only have the option for one or the other.

No I don't have Driver Assistance Package, but I have a guess what might be the issue. Have you had the dealer do the 'software upgrade'? The way you can tell is when you do the trunk 'kick-open' your rear lights should flash 3 times before the trunk swings open.
I only noticed my door lights on for reversing after this, could've been working before and I may never have noticed. As far as the software update goes, I never asked for this or even knew it was available, but my car was in for a window auto-close issue and the dealer told me they fixed it with a software update for the whole car. I definitely didn't have the trunk open lights flash before the update. Hope this helps. |

Is this the same update that allows your car to remember the last ASS setting?

Despite what page 21 of the owners manual says, my non-nav 2013 can store iDrive functions in the 8 programmable memory buttons. Eg, Trip Computer for button 1, parked car ventilation for button 8, Random toggle for button 4...

I have a question:
Not sure about the 2013, but on the 2012 328i, there's a green LED located close to the SOS flip-door on the side closer to the rear of the car that I've seen light up green once. I have no idea what it is and couldn't make it light up again. Anyone know what this is? Also, what do the hot/blue dials close to the vents do EXACTLY (want a technical explanation)? |

Cruise Control
When setting the cruise control it will set the speed at a couple mph over the current speed if you are still accelerating.
Not sure if this is in the manual or not. The cruise control appears to disengage if it senses a loss of traction. I was always told to avoid using CC during rain storms or snowy weather because a loss in traction could cause an accident if the CC system was engaged. Now I need not worry.

If you run your phone's USB cable at the location below it doesn't clamp down on the cable and allows you to push it back up under when not using it. Don't have to open and close the center console to connect your phone. The hand brake area makes a perfect resting spot for the phone when connected too.

It's the cool-face knob. In its simplest form, during winter you keep this on 'red' to have the four chest-height vents blow heated air at you for maximum warmth. But if you need some fresh, cool air on your face occasionally you twist the knob to 'blue' and this takes the cold outdoor air, bypasses the heating coils, and cools your upper body immediately while still maintaining warmth at your feet and lower body. If you get sleepy on a cold night's drive, it's like taking a cold shower. If the wife complains about cold feet while you're sweating to death in your 700 fill North Face Down Jacket, it's a great compromise. During summer, leave it on blue 24/7 or it screws up the air conditioning. BJ |

Boot
Cool thing about the cover of the extra space compartment in the boot (where normally the spare tire goes).
When you lift it completely up (some 60 degrees tilt), it snaps (on purpose) to a place of the top of the boot so that it can stay in the upright position. For me it snapped accidentally, and after inspecting the snap-ins, I realised it is like that by design Here is the excerpt from the owners manual. |
