2014-2 Next (NBT) Europe Maps

Anyone updated yet?

Just downloading the maps now...anyone with a ENET cable won't need to buy a map update code anymore as the software is freely available on the net to generate the map codes.

Link to download the program is attached.

You need a ENET cable to connect to the car to get the 1DE file to generate the map code. Someone put a bit of a guide here - http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/view...p?f=5&t=159306

Probably need to be a member.

Here's what mroshaw posted (credit to him!):

Software / Hardware Required

NEXT Map update software (I updated with Europe NEXT 2004-1)
BMW_E-Sys_3.18.4_47 - simply unzip this to a location on your computer. No need to actually install anything
SWID_Reader (the original archive) - you can find this with a simple search
SWID_DE_reader (assuming it's the DE file - reading the 1B file is much the same with the original version above)
BMW-FSC-NBT Code Generator (the one with NBT.EXE)
An ENET cable (Ethernet on one end, OBDII on the other)
I ended up running it all in Windows 8.1 without any problems.

Steps

1) From the E-Sys archive, copy the EDIABAS folder to the root of your C: drive
2) Confirm that the interface is defined as ENET in EDIABAS\BIN\EDIABAS.INI. If not, use Konfigurator to change it to ENET
3) From the original SWID_Reader archive, copy the 4 .prg files into EDIABAS\ECU
4) Copy the DE SWID_Reader executable to EDIABAS\BIN folder
5) Connect the ENET cable to the computer and to the car - on the F11 the OBDII port is under the steering column. Refer to the owners manual for full details
6) Wait a minute for the devices to assign themselves IP addresses
7) Run the DE version of SWID_Reader
8) Select 'F' series
9) Click 'Connect'
10) Click 'Read VIN'
11) Click 'Read FSC (DE)'
12) Click 'Save to File'. The file is saved in the BIN folder as <VIN>00DE0001.fsc
13) Open the FSC Generator
14) Click 'Browse' and open the .fsc file
15) Select your map product (Road Map EUROPE Next 2014-1)
16) Click 'Generate'
17) Note down the activation code
18) Expand the NEXT Map update archive to the root of a 32GB USB stick
19) Plug the usb stick into the car (my USB is in the centre console of the car)
20) Start the car
21) When prompted, enter your activation code - the map takes around one hour to update

Enjoy!

Yeh that's been around a while now.

Mixed success rate.... I know a lot of people thought they'd manage to activate the maps only for them to bleat about been unlicensed a few days later....

Proceed with caution.

I don't quite understand that though - if you put in an incorrect map update code, it tells you there and then.

I've not seen anyone with an 'unlicensed' map.

Are you saying the above process does not work or using an old code does not work?

I'm saying some people report that it all worked fine but then they get nagged about unlicensed maps some time later.

But were those people using a map update code?

That would be my guide to unlocking maps using the ENET cable! The unlock code that I generated for EUROPE 2014-1 worked perfectly and I've never been prompted to enter anything again. The update resolved a number of issues with roads in my area, so the update was definitely successful.

Anyway, I was wondering where the OP got hold of the Europe NEXT 2014-2 maps? I've been looking for these for a while but nothing to see on the usual forums and sites.

I have downloaded and installed the Europe NEXT 2014-2 maps.
I used E-SYS to obtain the .fsc file, then converted this into base 64 and put the file into the generator and generated the fsc code.
The code is working fine (fingers crossed).

Looks very interesting thanks. Let's hope this gives me the roads around Manchester airport that I was missing from 2014-1.

GF has a Volvo, they give free map updates for three years - hate to think what BMW will want to update my 6 month old £2000 Sat Nav.

Update my maps yesterday.

Saved the 1DE FSC file so I can easily generate my codes for my car in the future.

Has anybody tried updating without FSC ?

It seems a few on BabyBMW are finding that the car just updates with any code or anything?

My car (March 2014, 2014-1) needed an FSC before it would update.
