Winter Wheels & Tyres for 335D X-Drive

Hi All,

I'm starting to keep a look out for a set of winter wheels/tyres, probably new but open to used.

Anyone have any knowledge of any available?

Cheers
Chris

How new is your car? Or more importantly, does it have the electronic tyre pressure sensors or the passive system based on the abs sensors?

You can run without TPMS, you just have a warning triangle in the display ... you would have the same if you switched off the passenger airbag, a set of sensors are around 120 online if you want them

Plenty of wheels on ebay but be careful with used tyres, lots come in from Europe with 3 or 4mm of tread, they are taken off for a reason!

Set of 400m's here for £650 and you could sell the tyres for at least £300 which would pay for half of the new winter tyres.

BMW seem less bothered, given that the PSS option comes with non-M wheels!

Granted, I've got M Sport winters, however BMW's recommendation is for a square setup for winter tyres and here is a ready made solution.

I went to wheelbase and bought a package from them.

With second hand wheels - how safe are they ??

Genuine question - what would you look for apart from the obvious cracks curbing etc

Seen some replica M car alloys on eBay from Hong Kong which might be a decent mid/second set but again would or could quality ge an issue ??

Last 2 winters I've kept my summer tyres on without any issues .certainly not going to spend money on winters that probably won't be of any real need .

I am likely going to move to the new type of all season tyres at some point.

I've just ordered a set of these:-

http://www.leebmann24.de/bmw-rdci-wi...r-f32-f33.html

Both me and google translate are worn out but I think it's £600 or so cheaper than a UK dealer.

Fair comment.

Always thought the same having used a rear wheel drive Opel manta as my daily drive in proper snow without any fancy traction controls etc etc and never had any real issues to date

Until

I bought a set for my car. Now wouldn't be without a set to the point of having bought set for mine Mrs and my son. The grip and handling in cold weather is way superior on normal summer tyres.

Bought a set for my sons. Fiesta and now he's gone and traded up to a focus so looking to buy him another set for my peace of mind.

If anyone wants a set of winter alloys for a fiesta etc let me know !!!!

Here you go, £700 for brand new 400M's and tyres! Would be very silly not to get them!

Just bought and fitted some of these with Michelin PSS and absolutely love them.
Massive improvement vs 403's with P-zero RFT's.

I do like non M sport wheels , 18" style 415 and 416 are my favourite. If I needed some I would go for them.

Have you gone for a square setup? I do like the 18" 405's, but wouldn't want to sacrifice the wider rears.
