Coding help

I bought a cable and it arrived today, iv downloaded the software from BMWesys and although the vin is showing up I don't seem to be able to get the connect button to light up?

Iv downloaded the token as well.

Iv also tried to download the PSdZDATA from the same place but when it downloads it asks for me to select what program I want to open it with?

Do I need the PDd file?

Probably best to post in the DIY forums.

However, I assume you are using laptop? If so, have you turned off your wireless? If so, when you connect to the car, does your laptop show "Unrecognized network"?

As for the PSdZData, it should be a .rar file. Did you use the link from shawnsheridan??

Hi bud,

Yes I'm using my laptop but I wasn't connected to a network, do I still need it switched off?

No I downloaded it myself from BMWesys.com

What does the PSdZDATA file do, should it just install itself or do I have to save it somewhere specific?

I am going to PM you. It is the message I got from shawnsheridan that provides everything you need to get coding including instructions. Follow them exactly and you should have no problems.

Please send the instructions to me as well if you would. I have been trying to program my vehicles for like a century now and cant seem to get a valid communication line setup. I have bought several cables and such and am willing to make another attempt at it if i have proper instructions.

thanks in advance.

Weird, you should be getting option to only save it. You will then need to unpack it because the file is a compressed file. What browser are you using to download from? I am using Chrome.

Iv got the esys to download fine now I'm having problems with the PSdZDATA file, it's downloaded as a RAR file but is trying to open with Adobe and it won't work, there's no option to extract anything, I think that was he problem earlier I hadn't created the PSdZDATA files in c/data

You need to unpack it using the free WinRar program. Download that then unpack it.

Hi bud, yes and no,

I deleted the PSdZDATA file and re extracted it and now I can get into the ECU's, I followed the cheat sheet on here to enable the ASS (thought I'd start small) but then I went for a quick drive and it hasn't worked?

After I changed the code I just shut the system down and it asked me if I wanted to save something that I'd changed so I clicked yes?

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Glad to hear you are connected at least.

Did you follow the directions after you made the code changes to actually code the FDL to your car?? You need to follow the instructions on pages 2-13 of the pdf "E-sys Getting Started Coding v2" which is included with the links I sent.

I have now!! Sorry missed that part,

It's helped a lot and I've got a couple of things to work, digital speedo/m idrive start up/m performance logo

I can't get the ASS to stop though and I can't get video in motion to work, I don't seem to have the file "video speed lock condition" iv deactivated the other two and now it will still play with the handbrake off and in drive but as soon as I move it cuts out.

Cool!

For video in motion did you edit the following:
HU_NBT/ 3000 / SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MAX werte from 00 to FF
HU_NBT/ 3000 / SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MIN werte from 00 to FF
HU_NBT / 3000 / VIDEO_HANDBRAKE from aktiv to nicht_aktiv
HU_NBT / 3000 / VIDEO_SPEEDLOCK_CONDITION from handbrake_or_gearbox_p to none

For ASS, by default my car came with the coding to remember my last ASS setting. So in your car, it always defaults to ASS being on?
Did you code these:
FEM_BODY 3023 TCM_MSA_MEMORY

No I didn't code those I didn't know they were part of it, I will try again.

Regards the ASS yes I changed that function and now it's at least remembering my last setting which will do for now tbh

Thanks for all your help and patience

Iv just thought, I selected both the options for ASS, always off and remember last setting, perhaps I need to only select one?

It depends on what you want to do. I have only coded the remember last setting. This way if I want it on its on, and if i want it off its off. I wont have to continually turn it on or off.

Really I want it off full time, because in the setting it is now even though it remembers the last setting it still switches off when you've moved into Eco!!
