I thought it takes about 1 week to build a 3-series car (longer for Individual). So if your car finishes this week, then it must be August production.

I don't know, I asked on the 8th of August and they said it was in production and due to be completed by week 34. so even if it started production on the 8th, it would have still taken 2 weeks.

When I was waiting on mine I was told it can take anywhere from 5 - 10 days to build.

Its still going to be an August production though!!

My custom built F31 took 1 week to finish, and 1 week to the port then sail down under for 1.5 months

Mine's being built this week also and my dealer also said they don't have the VIN yet either.

I will be talking to the dealer about pricing though as I paid an increase for MY14 build, but didn't get a decrease in HUD and other expensive bits. I am sure we will come to some agreement.

Edit: In summary, for my particular 335, here are the changes:

Lane Departure now in Driver Assistant Option - Interesting, bet I've lost this now... Oh well,c an live without it, but the whole package sounds cool :-(
Active Cruise Control - reduced by $384
Heads Up Display - reduced by up to $300
M Sport - reduced by over $500

Plus, the $3000 increase isn't quite a $3000 increase, it's $2355.

Sounds significant, but it's 'only' $1829 - Hmmm, some 'free' M Performance gear in return?

My ideal result will be a new contract with the new pricing , that will sort the LCT and SD issue out too.

We'll see. I've emailed my sales guy and I'll advise the answer.

I've done the same, although it really depends on the options you got, if you didnt opt for those options that were reduced in pricing you might actually end up paying more on the new price.

BTW this is what my sales guy said:

"I have read over the information that you have discovered online through various sources including the BMW Website.

As it reads, it certainly looks as though you may be getting these upgraded options. ( we have our fingers crossed for you )

But I cannot confirm 100% at this stage.

What I can confirm is that you car is an August 2013 build car. And when you ordered your car these options were not part of what we discussed.

However I certainly hope that all these reports are right and you do end up with the upgrade.

Your enquiry has triggered a research process that will hopefully enable us to confirm either way in time.

We will keep you informed over the next month as any definite answers come to hand."

a very polite way to say nothing... can't they give a call to the S.Africa plant this afternoon and get things sorted? They are the dealer and has the responsibility to get the right information for the customer, especially spending over 70k. I work for a German scientific company, if I can't get the answer back to the customer, i willl email or call my German colleagues in the factory to verify. These days, an email from the other end of the world doesn't take that long!

I hope you get the MY14 car when it comes.

Kagawa26, looks like I did a bit better than you. I got a phone call a short time ago and it sounds as if we're going to leave as is, but I'm basically okay with that because:

1) They've confirmed that I have option 5AS, which is the new 'Driving Assistant' option that has 'Approach Warning', 'Lane Departure Warning', 'Pedestrian Approach Warning' and something else in it.

2) They've confirmed all of the other options are correct in the 'loaded system'

3) The M Sport brakes went in as a NCO previously (will need to check this - I am sure it was a cost) but are now an extra and I still have those.

So, sounds like swings and roundabouts and the amount isn't enough to bother with.

My current finance expiries around the 20th of Sept and they will take it into stock then (I am trading) and either loan it back to me or give me another loaner until mine arrives.

They expect to have all of the VIN details early next week.

and don't forget that the currency fall over 20% against EURO since the peak in March, another excuse to increase the base-price.

I'm glad you used the E word and not the R word (excuse vs reason).

I signed a contract on Monday for a 328 - including nav pro - haven't heard anything from the dealer so I have no idea if it is based on the new price or not.

Haven't heard from the dealer. Basically expecting them to try and increase the price prior to delivery (based on the increase in RRP) - in this case I will be exercising my right under the contract to walk away from the sale if the price is different as the dealer.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

I don't think that should happen. You have a written agreement with a dealership to be supplied with a specified goods at a specified price within a reasonable time. Price changes are not decided overnight - they know one is coming well before you talked to them this week and in any event is not relevant. They have no excuse.

The new iDrive was the main reason for deferring my June 1 order to August build, so yes. It's definitely a MY14 build, so I assume so.

Didn't see HFW003's reply. He's right ;-)

btw back on topic...how much did you all pay for your f30/31s?

Also, considering novated lease...done all the number crunching...turns out to be about the same as cashing it all out at once...not sure which to go with

If you have the cash, just pay for it all at once mate, knowing that you are owning your car outright is a wonderful feeling, i know i wouldnt look after the car if its a lease
