435/335 different torque numbers
I thought both the 435 and 335 have the same N55 engine, but the bmwusa.com site shows the 4 with 295 lb-ft of torque, and the 3 with 300 kb-ft. Can anyone shed any light on this topic?

The N55 is rated at 306hp/295tq for the 135i, 335i, 435i, 535i, x3 and x5. BMW marketing dept promotes 300hp/300tq because it has a good ring to it I guess.

I'm not sure the N55 is under rated, can you share any evidence that reflects otherwise. IMO, the F30 should have received a bump in HP, but the new 8sp auto gives it a false feeling that there is more HP. The F30 is rated at 33mpg versus the outgoing E90 was something like 28mpg? Don't see how BMW could get more HP yet more mileage.
Hey, if the N55 truly reflected 320, then I support it being advertised as such, but I would think that if it was 320 the BWM marketing team would have done so already. P.s. sry for high jacking thread. |

My butt dyno tells me that my F30 is not any faster than my E90 and if so only a 1/10 of a second 0 to 60. |

My own car was dynoed at 290 RWP on a Superflo ("tough" dyno like a Mustang dyno) and 304 RWP on Dynojet. So....I'm putting out between 341 and 354 crank hp. I have the MPPK....so either that kit puts out a lot more hp than advertised....or more likely....the N55 is underrated stock.

As for the 435i, I suspect same is true since they share N55. I am still wondering about power gain from electric steering, since there is no engine pulley to trim the hydronic pump |
