BTW, your rear bumper looks a perfect colour match in the picture.

I had a factory tour of the factory that makes the 3 series and the bumpers are supplied and painted by a outside company so that will be the reason why you can get a slight colour difference

Mine is as "good as it gets" match wise, BMW paint is not the best and Orange peel seems the norm now
I have made this complaint to BMW in my letter, will it fall on the deaf probably.
The car seems all one colour though.
On a brighter note "Drives like a sports tourer" F88king quick.

Must say, I don't have orange peel and this surprised me.
But the rear bumper, is another story. I never noticed this when I took delivery, even though I was looking for such a mismatch.
I suppose I'll just have to live with it ....... if I can.

Here are some pictures. What do you think? Looks worse in reality

Car booked in for 3rd January for the driver's seat and rear bumper. They assess both. They need the car for most of the day.

It does look a shade darker from the last picture, is it really bad in sun light then?.

It's very light and view angle dependent.
It's much better in bright sunlight which is as rare as hen's teeth.

Someone else's car ......
I think mine is a bit better.
But as I said earlier, very light and viewing angle dependent.

This one is bad, BMW paint is getting worse IMO.

Yes John, that's bad and it belongs to one of the forum members. I hope he does not read this thread.

Not another issue with the F30/31 models....

And I was going to order an F31 for launch date. Glad I opted for the 5-series after all.

I hear the words of one of my tool makers, a very wise guy who had years of experience. Something like "never buy a new model car, always allow time for the bugs to be built out and eliminated".

Are all the colours like it in the F30/31 range, or is EB showing it more than most colours?

Which color is darker below ??

In case you didn't know... it's a trick, they're the same color... think i'm crazy? it's actually the way the human brain perceives shadows... put a finger over the middle of the image, voila!

Mind blown?

I know about the light and shadows, I used to run a body shop in a previous career, many moons ago. We can be a bit too critical at times, but it does appear worse than we'd expect, particularly from the last F30 picture you posted.

I had a new front bumper on my E91, (a kindly neighbour backed into it when parked 'properly' near my mother's home). My car was mystic blue metallic and I expected it to mismatch, as it was painted and baked away from the car, the car just went in for a few hours while the bumper was fitted. Paint colour and metallic depth was a perfect match, no shadows or light issues at all. But colour does make a difference.

But I'd be very cautious of trying to get it sorted. Like a lot of the comments on the other thread, try and live with it, even if it does show more than just an illusion, which it may well do.

I am going to try and live with it. Fixing it will cause more problems.

Yikes...!!

Cant say I've noticed any discolouration with my Alpina White F30 but I need to check from all angles in the daylight, I currently have a silver F30 on loan and it also looks ok..could be isolated to EBII..

F30AM push hard with you dealer to get yours sorted .. or request distress compensation..!

Ha, ha! I think they will be the more distressed party once I sink my tallons into them.

I think I'll live with my EBI/EBII rear end. BUT, they'll have to sort my seat. My posterior demands better.
