It will indeed! BMW NZ are very sure the new Nav is included in Dec+ builds.

Not really sure how to explain it...from the outside it looks like a dealer but they sale to Military only which is why they are all US spec cars (pentagoncarsales.com). None the less summertime is the info I got. July to be exact but who knows. so it looks like my car wont have it. I wouldn't get to use most of it's features with the indepth graphics/bldg views anyway for the next 2.5 years. I'll live...

Pentagoncarsales likely gets their info from BMWNA. And since BMWNA is on radio silence regarding the new Nav for F30 models I'm surprised they can confirm July 2013 as a start for NA. I suppose they are guessing.

I have had several people in US dealership management, as well as a couple people I know at BMWUS Manufacturing, try to reach out and get an answer on the new Nav. Not a single one can get a confirmed start date. They only get "no new Nav for F30 this year".

Yes, it could be a MY14 update. It could also be a feature added anytime after PW01 (2013) builds.

Does anyone know if a Prod.date of 2012-11-19 for deliver in Canada would have the new Navi? There has been much talk about USA but not Canada. Bmwvin.com describes the navi as S609A - NAVIGATIONSSYSTEM PROFESSIONAL - Navigation system Professional.

US/Canada should be on the same roll-out schedule.

S609A is the option code for both old and new Nav, so unfortunately that doesn't tell us anything.

I posted a photo of a BMW Canada Bulletin saying no for CY 2012. Others have said they've been told no for MY 2013.

I predict the first Nov build cars will show up here around Dec 7th, from Germany. I don't know of anyone in particular, but this is based on people getting their cars today that finished up the third week in Oct.

Please link to that Bulletin. Would like to read it.

**EDIT** I found the "Product POOR Planning bulletin". Seems BMWNA is also in control of BMWCA?

BMWNA releases special Nav upgrade for NA customers. In an official statement they said "will surely satisfy all Atari 2600 owners".

I had a look today at the DCSnet system and checked the parts catalog for the 2013 F30. Showed it was last updated during November, 2012 and the Nav system does not show a revised part #. I used the VIN assigned to my PW45 car (in transit) and it showed the same Nav part# as older F30's.

So, I think this likely gives closure to the Nav upgrade question for US F30's.

Surely you would need to compare to the part number of the Rest-of-World F30s to be sure? Others have posted that there is no change to the navigation part #, so I don't think this proves anything.

There is a poster on the "other" BMW forum who is picking up his ED car on Monday. Assuming his car is PW45+, that should settle things one way or the other.

There is no change in the VO Option Code, 609 Navigation System Professional; however, there most certainly is a change in the Head Unit Part Number from HU_CIC to HU_NBT.

Very interesting. So we can refer to the systems as CCC (pre-2009), CIC (2009-?), and NBT (mid 2012+).

What does NBT stand for?

NBT (aka CIC-HIGH) is "Next Big Thing", believe it or not.

Wow, not very creative with that name!

Thanks for sharing that doc. It was interesting to learn that Nav data takes up 65GB!

I see, that makes sense. However, there's no rush to update these kinds of part systems is there? No one could possibly need a replacement NBT navigation unit until December/January at earliest so I don't imagine BMW needs to be extremely quick to update the parts system?

There's a US military guy picking up his F30 in Germany tomorrow. Assuming it's a US-spec car, we should get some indication this week depending on whether he got the new navigation or not.

The new Head Unit has a new Part Number, and any car with it will reflect that new Part Number.

It does not have anything to do with the timing of replacement parts, and has everything to do with documenting a vehicle build with an accurate Bill of Material (BOM). No manufacturer of any engineered product will put a new part in it, and not update the BOM so that later when replacement parts are actually needed, it is known exactly which part is required, or in the event that there is a manufacturers defect and they need to issue a product recall, they know which specific vehicles are affected.

Keep in mind too that HU_NBT is available now on 2013 F10's, as well as F30's overseas, and people are already working on selling NBT retrofits to CIC and CCC owners:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=749383

So, the new HU_NBT can be ordered now, whether they are building new U.S. F30's with it or not.

Hi all,

My fully loaded 335 M Sport has a production date of 11/6/12, any idea what production week that would be? I had my SA hold off for Nov production because I too wanted the new iDrive. Despite all that has been posted, I'm still holding out hope. I'll be sure to post back when the car arrives and I can see what exactly is installed.

Michael

PW45. Same as car I have on order. And NO new Nav.

Call a dealer tomorrow and give them your VIN and ask for the Nav part #. Then ask them to compare to a 2012 F30 with a random VIN. You will see its the same.
