Here's why I ask:

As some of you have probably read, I had a E39 540i M-sport 6MT. It was not decked out or anything above/beyond stock. It was vandalized twice. First time the vandals pulled off my side view mirror covers and broke them (which makes me very reluctant to buy Carbon Fiber caps). Second time, vandals put all their weight on the passenger side view mirror and completely snapped it off from the car. That cost me $$$.

Both times occurred in a very nice part of Scottsdale, AZ.

Fast forward to my Range Rover. Had all the exterior accessories for off-roading and was beautiful/immaculate. Received compliments on it wherever I parked. Number times vandalized: ZERO.

Obviously I'm glad it never got vandalized nor should one ever expect their car to get vandalized. However, my previous vandalism experience with my former BMW makes me pause about purchasing exterior accessories to make it stand out.

Just thinking out loud.

i think any nice car is prone to vandalism. Be it a BMW or a american muscle car.

My last car, an rx8 was vandalized and it's not even a "Nice" car but was a bit flashy in design. Got egged and keyed 2x.

The only valuable theory in all of this is that people suck sometimes.

Nice cars attract attention. Attention that we want, and attention that we don't. My last car was a relatively stealthy, 2010 STi. Let's just say that it was similarly "violated" on two occasions.

I feel for you. Plenty of good people out there, only takes a handful to ruin things.

I don't know it's anything to do with the brand, people are just idiots. I had an absolutely piece of shit '95 Honda Civic, and someone put sugar in my gas tank. Completely ruined the car. There were much nicer cars parked all around me, and for whatever reason, I was the 'lucky' one.

I have nightmares about this same exact thing happening to my car. It's not that we have enemies or wronged someone so severely that they would have reason to vandalize our cars (not that there's ever a legit reason to vandalize OPP) majority of the time. Reality is, there are haters and envious individuals in the world who'd stoop to these levels out of pure hatred and jealousy. GL with repairs...insurance should cover it, granted your premium might go up slightly?
