Medal -two url's everyone who orders a BMW should have:
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=680467 From the time you hit status 150 (Production Started), expect about 7-9 working days for the car to "complete" production, from there, the other black hole of "your car has been assigned to logistic's carrier" starts - typically it is anywhere from 2-5 days to hit the port from manufacturing in Munich, in most cases you miss the boat that is already in port and have to wait until the following Tues/Wed for the next boat to leave (for vehicles bound to NY). If you know what port your car is coming into, go you can go to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics site (ocean carrier and is different from the plant to port company ) and search by port, see the exit date from Beemer Heaven (Bremerhaven) and arrival date into your nearest port which is NY - add anywhere from 1-7 days from port to dealer, a day at the dealer and magically some grueling 8 weeks later (for Munich builds), you have a nice new car and forget all the BS of ordering/BMW screwing with you. The above 2 sites have great/detailed info and spelled out much better than the Cliff notes above. If your car is being manufactured in SA, ahhhh, well... make that 10-12 weeks later and you have a nice new car. Also, the website lags about 24-48 hours over the 800# which itself is off by 12-18 hours. If you call it, best to do so after 3pm EST as the Munich computers update +/- 3 hours from 3pm EST (from my experiences). Good luck and don't get frustrated... besides you are in great company with all of us overly anxious past/present/future orderers. FWIW: Order 2/19 Build Started: 2/27 Production Ended: 3/8 At Port: 3/12 (missed the 3/12 boat by that much ) Loaded on Asian King: 3/21 Currently in Belgium: 3/25 Due in NY: 3/4 Will be at the dealer with coffee in hand for delivery: 4/9

Now I just get to watch the boat, sitting at whatever port, or bobbing along on the ocean and quietly, to myself, scream GO FASTER YOU SOB!

For the VIN, you can either call the BMW 800# (give them your Production ID# and they can look it up) or the dealer who went through (Tulley/IRA? Not sure which one you used) and they can provide it to you.
Good luck and let me know how you made out.

Timing really varies.
Expect maybe 5-10 days to go from Munich to Bremmerhaven. Then a few days to get on a boat. Then obviously the trip east could vary based on what shipping line and what ports the vessel stops at along the way. I'd say you are anywhere from 4-6 weeks away. Until you are loaded onto a boat you can't really track via VIN. I found the 800# not very accurate. Once on a boat, assuming it's the W&W lines you can track via their track my cargo page. My Munich built 335i finished production on 2/22 and wasn't in my garage until last night (4/3). Oh and this is assuming a German build. I have no clue how long a SA build takes, just that it is much longer. |

Medal, I bought from Tulley also. I took delivery last week. Mine finished production in Munich on 2/20 and made the 3/6 boat. So, 2 weeks. I had my car 2.5 weeks after getting on the boat.
