Anyone look into swap a lease or lease trader? I recently completed a lease transfer and it was a breeze.

msrp $56.500
down $6,000 + $1,000 rebate
12k miles - 3 years, $480 per month including taxes.

After my calc these are the assumptions:

A fair dealer profit of 3% ($1,461.00) brings the negotiated price of car to $50,161.00+$925(dest. charge)-$1,000(rebate)= $50,086.00

I'm getting $404.09 @ 0.00129 w/ ~62% residual and $6,000 as cap cost reduction (not MSD). So something seems a little off there, what was the negotiated price of the car? It seems a bit high.

I'm getting $562.74 @ 0.00129 w/ ~63% residual and $1200 as cap cost reduction (not MSD). What was the quoted price?

Looking at the lease agreement right now

Gross Capitalized Cost was $52,140 less 1300 cap reduction (not 1200 woops)

Residual is $34,646.85

Pre-tax payment is $560.33 about 8.5% tax for me = $605

MSRP was just about 55k on the car.

That seems a little steep. I have the exact same packages and paying just over 600 with tax and 2300 down including the 1k rebate from BMW - only mine is 10k miles not 15k.

They should at least get you to invoice price. Based on what they showed me I was 1k under invoice

good deal?

Guys I got the following deal and wonder if this is good enough?

I am getting a car with MSRP $52,695
BMW 335i Sport Line
Technology package
Premium Package
Heated front seats
Park distance control
Rear Camera

so the deal is $2000 down (includes drive off and registration fees)
$550 monthly (tax included)

Is this a good deal?

What is the selling price? $48,720...is what I came up with the calculations that would match your monthly payment. Meaning your getting the car at $720 above invoice which is very good.

I am getting a 328 with MSRP $45,400

BMW 335i M-Sport
Estoril Blue
Lighting Package
Manual Transmission
Moonroof
HK Sound
Alarm

Trade in of $3500 + $1000 Rebate + $750 Rebate = $5250 Down

Payment is $377 (Backed out sales tax, after tax is $400 a month)

This was placed in May but I was told there may be additional incentives when lease is "initiated" come June/July.

Good deal?

I am not sure about selling price since i am leasing it the guy didnt mention it and I am not sure if it worth to ask... Since i am not going to buy it at the end.

I forgot to mention that the deal got locked in March special where 1k rebate was available.

Terrible. It is foolish to put that much down.

It’s risky. I wouldn't call it foolish; Possibly, their risk tolerance is a lot higher than yours.

You're essentially pro-rating that amount across the lease term and reducing it [your payment] by the quotient of the pro-ration.

Consider it in a way that cap-cost reduction (cash down) is working hard to bring your payment down every month...like a productive construction worker. (Oxymoron? )

However, if Murphy's Law is true (haha) then you could end up losing the $6,000 down if your car gets totaled or stolen. You will have essentially lost out on whatever that $6,000 down was going to be doing (see above for imagery of a productive construction worker) for your monthly payment.

I'm confused. The selling price is very important when it comes to your lease payment. I think you may be confusing the residual (valuation of what BMW thinks the car will be worth after X years and Y miles) with the Cap Cost (price of car).

Or you can invest that 6k and make some money off interest.

Could you explain why it is important? since I am probably confusing something as you say. I built an order online with MSRP of $53k and the guy gave me a deal on down payment and monthly payments now I am not sure why I should ask for something else?

Thanks

Because there are many more components to a lease other than down payment and the monthly payment (which is just the end result of the money facter, cap cost, cap cost reduction, tax rate, residual, rent charge, depreciation and any amortized amounts, etc)....you see there are a lot of components you need to look for when leasing. Any of these sections can be..for lack of a better word..fudged with. What i'm trying to say is if you don't know how they are coming up with the monthly payment then more research and number checking needs to be done.

Code:
Gross Captilized Cost [MINUS] Cap Cost Reduction [EQUALS] Adjusted Cap cost

Adjusted cap cost (from above)[MINUS] Residual Value
[EQUALS] Depreciation and any amortized amounts

Depreciation (from above) [PLUS] rent charge
(adjusted cap cost [PLUS] residual value)*money factor*lease term)
[EQUALS] Total of base monthly payments (depreciation+rent charge)

Base monthly payment (from above) [DIVIDE] #months in lease term
[EQUALS] Base monthly payment

Base monthly payment (from above)[PLUS] sales tax
[EQUALS] Total monthly payment

A small change in the money factor can act as a catalyst down the whole calculation....giving you a different monthly payment than what it should be.
