iDrive NBT VS NBT-EVO differences
Hi everybody,
Can someone speaks about differences between NBT and NBT Evo ? I guess NBT EVO HU gets more features or system optimizations, but nothing found on the net.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-F30-F3...item35f0b57229 |

What I know up until now:
NBT2 Evo has An integrated 4G card (nbt is 3g). NBT2 Evo can download map updates over the air for free for 3 years, NBT does not do that. |

Does the evo have more RAM or processing power? the Internet browser app on the regular nbt is crippled by the 1gb of RAM.

NBT2 still has a separate telematics module - it's called ATM.

Is there a way to tell which unit we have? I have a 2016 340 and I know that I get over the air maps free for 3 years. So does that mean I have the NBT2 Evo?

You need to have an active connected drive subscription for OTA updates to work and the vehicle has to belong to the market where the vehicle will be operated. If you have an imported vehicle you may need to replace your ATM module with one for that market if you convince BMW to provision the new one for you. I have been through this road before in Germany and its a dead end either way for me here....

The update should be offered to you by the Idrive automatically. It will only do so when it has downloaded the update and verified it for consistency. This process is done in the background and no user interaction is needed. Im not sure as to why it not happening to you. The latest NBT Evo update is 2017-2. Perhaps you should talk to BMW for your market and ask them if this is a service that is active in your country. I know it works in the US and here in Germany for vehicles with NBT2
