LCI LED conversion harness question

What's up guys. I just bought a complete full set of 2017 oem LCI Adaptive LED headlights to retrofit on my 2015 pre-LCI f31 that came stock with Halogens. I know I will need coding, but I am not sure exactly which harness kit to buy. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Contact marius76

He sells the harness most people use for this retrofit and can assist with coding.

Though I will tell you that the F30/F31 Adaptive Headlights aren’t that great. I’d personally go to EU Adaptive Xenon. Either way, you’d still need a harness from marius76 and coding. He is the source for the headlight harness retrofits.

What’s different about the EU xenon’s? I’m in the market for the same thing. 2014 F30 with halogens. I’m looking for xenon or led with angel eyes. I’m overwhelmed by the options. I’ll likely buy off eBay or AliExpress bc no one posts in the classifieds anymore. Forum feels dead lately.

The wife’s X5 has adaptive xenon’s and I love them. The kids ask if my lights are on in my car. They’re actually dangerous.

I look at the leds and it seems like they are just halogens with led angel eyes. I don’t see a projector lens so I don’t understand how they can throw light further. And what’s the sliver plastic horizatonal piece that makes them adaptive do?

As YASBBYM3 had already mentioned, the the F30/F31 Adaptive LED Headlights are not really good. A lot of people complain about the brightness and light coverage. Some people say that BMW didn't put proper efforts in designing LCI LED headlights for F30/F31 cars.

My wife's 2015 F30 has Adaptive Xenon headlights and they are really good in both regards. If I were you looking for upgrade, I'd go for the Adaptive Xenons, either NA or EU spec, and wouldn't consider adaptive LED headlights from LCI cars. It also makes the retrofit slightly easier than retrofit for LED headlights.

The silver plastic horizontal piece in the LCI LED headlights is the shroud that incases the boards with LED crystals shining back at upper and lower reflectors to produce Low and High beams respectively. The "adaptive" means that light beams go left to right and vice versa with the turn of the steering wheel. This motion of light beams is achieved with motion of the reflectors left to right and vice versa, the LED crystals/boards stay in the same spot mounted behind the silver horizontal piece you are asking about.

Here is more info on difference of headlights for LCI F cars: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...51&postcount=1

Use RealOem.com for part numbers.

My wife’s F15 has adaptive xenon’s and they’re awesome. AliExpress LEDs have good reviews on here and they’re $600 and plug and play. I’d love some adaptive xenon’s but they’re double the price

Hi Oksamit78
Being very knowledgable in this area, I was hoping you could help.
I have an f30 335i 2015 with halogen headlights (UK car)
I want to change them to led’s but because I have a 10 pin connector I’ve been advised that aftermarkets are not supplied in the UK (?)
I don’t mind using original BMW parts but no one can tell me what I need i.e., parts and the respective part numbers.
Can you advise?

Hey, I'm not an expert, to be honest, as there are several other people that have a lot of knowledge on headlights.

I suggest you start with http://realoem.com where you can type-in last 7 symbols/digit of your car's VIN into "Serial Number" field and then you will be able identify the exact (prescribed) part numbers for the headlights that were installed in your car at the factory.
