so you hit 50000 mls, what now

I don't know if any of you had this experience before, I traded in 2 cars at 49000 mls, right before loosing the ultimate service plan and before getting to be responsible for everything from oil change to any crap other than that. Any of you had to go over and recertify the car or (I think) paying $3000 to extend the service plan?

I purchased an extended service plan through Ford Factory Warranties (yeah, pretty much every company offers these for every other vehicle) prior to hitting 50K for two reasons:

1) It's cheaper to purchase an extended service plan while the car is still under factory warranty

2) It's a good selling point for the vehicle -- the buyer can determine whether or not they want this...if not, I can get a refund for the unused portion of the ESP.

Stupid question, but you purchased the ford extended warranty for the BMW? I know a buddy of mine bought an aftermarket chrysler warranty for his Evo and it paid for itself many times over. I will certainly look into this if it's possible.

how long are you planning on keeping the car? if you're dumping it soon, pay for a few oil changes and save your $ . If you're planning on keeping it for a lot longer, then sit down and decide if you want to pay BMW to do your service, or if you want to find a reputable independent shop to do it.

Yeah, I know, it seems like you couldn't, but Ford offers their Service Plans for any make. Service Plans are not a Warranty, they're more like insurance.
